Identifying New Tops (once Fimmed)

I am what you would call, a newbie to the world of green thumbs,
Months of research went in before even considering giving this a real shot,
A lot of common sense came from just being a smoker for many years, but growth, is an entirely different topic! Soo,
I had about 12 seeds pop, "weeded" out the weaklings, Two remain, don't know the strain- and I wouldn't even attempt to identify it with no real means of genetic history so,
I have what "looks like to me" an Indica dominant cross, which now I know she's a definite lady, and it's time to get even more serious.
I am doing a little bit of LST here and there, after 5-6 nodes I Fimmed her,
Within a week or 10 days, she doubled in hight and mass. As expected, totally bushed out :) now, what i don't know, is the difference between a fimmed plant at this stage and an untouched natural looking plant, from what I see, it looks as though she grew six new tops, with 4 more slowly growing from the inner part of the node,
How can I be sure that these 6 fast growing tops are actually new colas ??? is the dead giveaway the fact that each one is rising up to the top to become equal length from the first top ? I really do believe I lucked out here with these regular seeds as this plant is strong and seems to have great genetics thus far. if anyone could tell me if these new shoots are new colas and if I can even "top" those as well? Or possibly fim one to see what happens, because I am new, I simply have used a lot of common sense thus far, only some questions are just better left for the Pros
