OK, Mr. Wizard. I get a table like this for download. This is the LF table? Do I need to sum that?
Luminous efficiency
nm V
390 4.07678E-04
395 1.07817E-03
400 2.58977E-03
405 5.47421E-03
410 1.04130E-02
415 1.71297E-02
420 2.57613E-02
425 3.52955E-02
430 4.69823E-02
Please re-read my post #5587, Mr. degree in physics.

(In case you're not able to understand it, you need to download the table by 1nm with linear energy units. And no, summing up LF is senseless. Sum the SPD and SPD*LF up instead.)

Just wanted to give an update after 2 wks of growing under my KIND L450. This is my first grow and from looking at other's journal entries, she seems to be right on sched growth-wise. I have seen mixed reviews on KIND (mostly negative). From my initial email to the company, they have been very punctual and quite KIND : ). Whenever I shoot them an email I usually get a response within the hour. When I call they always answer. It was their customer service and a grow journal that I read that pushed me to give KIND a chance. I understand people will talk about their Chinese diodes yatta yatta yatta.... And no, their product probably isn't the best out there. And no, they don't have Area 51's warranty, but you can find great deals on them if you search. I got mine for 450ish and its been great thus far and their warranty is industry comparable. Not saying everyone should go out there and buy one, but if you're on the fence I'll tell you it's a quality product and quality service.

You really just enjoy trying to piss people off here in the LED community, right?
Nope. Is it not obvious by now all they (well, some of 'm) do is piss off themselves?

That being said, state your purpose(s) here?
Who are you to even ask that... pompous... lol. Someone grabbed something I posted earlier in another thread grossly out of context. So I set the record straight. I noticed then Stardust was helping Doer, so I liked a few posts from him cause I know he at least aims to be a pro and was nice to see him get some help finally. From a douchebag, but that seems to be standard in the "LED community" at riu... For the rest, scroll up, see previous pages. I did not come here to offend anyone, but if people quote me and need to act like douchebags so badly, I don't mind giving them a piece of their own crap.

Consider this message as my advice to you to either scram or take a new approach when commenting in this section, as I'd love to see a cat change the colors of it's stripes.
"LED and other lighting"... Besides that, what a silly argument, living up to the phrase led church again. You're barking up the wrong tree really, I've done plenty of trolling and may have upset people along the path of intellectual honesty, but, I'm never ill-minded with an intend to 'upset' anyone. Well except a few petty shrimp dicks who think they have the power to upset anyone else but themselves.

It's almost like you expect me to be the better man..., which I am probably, but no that is not what I'm here for. You're question is fair enough by now though, my work seems done here.

Oh and I'd love to see you all change your bad attitudes (and for some people 'change back') but that's like "world peace"...

After seeing the comments you leave and the comments others direct at you, I honestly don't believe you need to be active in the LED threads, not that you don't have the right to be in them but that you just don't seem to fit in quite well as others (which is hard for me to understand because you have a decent message-to-like ratio).

They should maybe implement a dislike option for users...

Yet you keep quoting me... I don't know what planet you live on, but I don't see how your belief as to where I post or not is relevant. I already explained why I replied nonetheless. And you think "not fitting in here well" (I'll take that as a major compliment thank you) is somehow a reason for me to not reply... on the contrary.

And now you suggest giving trolls and the led herd a dislike option? The developers of this forum have already decided long ago they will never release a dislike option, because of the type of behavior the led community here demonstrated so nicely over the past week. Or in nazi germany... You are really in no position to judge me.

(which is hard for me to understand because you have a decent message-to-like ratio).
This forum should come with a theme song... Blinded by the light...

Lol right?! Now here too??? Let me get this back on track.....

I'm thinking of growing with leds since my last grow, I grew 8 ounces of shwag with 600ws that was a ncandescent bulbs and black lights in a 2x2x2' box and only got up to 120°, I'm trying to take that down to about 105°, maybe invest in co2 and shoot for a full pound!

Would this model be good? Says 30w chips mixed with UV leds and half of the chips are blue so I should be able to stack stack stack and trich trich trich....right?

That or I see the fanboys of Area 51 praise this whole.... white leds thing. What the hell is that??? Isn't RB the magic wavelengths?! I wanna be different. I don't want to go with the proven technology. I don't believe they are producing what they are, it's white light! Pfffft. Like the sun of something...

And I want to get rid of the blacklight... I'm tired of seeing my spew on my hands when I work in there. Any suggestions

(Not ragging on newcomers. Just making light fun to avoid silly shit)

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

B.Franklin.
That is one of the most abused quotes from America's independence period. Franklin said that in 1755. It was republished in 1775 at the height of the rebellion against England. In 1788 Franklin was a Federalist, supporting the proposed constitution which was ratified in 1789. He argued against libertarians like Jefferson who wished to retain state sovereignty under the loose and powerless Articles of Confederation.

In other words, Franklin was willing to give up liberty for safety. What was "essential" to others wasn't to him. (The same fundamental principle of politics every generation since has reckoned with.).

Worse, just 6 years prior to the revolution, Franklin was in London. At that time, John Wilkes was a radical politician critical of King George, so popular he was elected to parliament three times -- from *prison*. Tensions between his supporters and the King culminated in the St. George's Field Massacre where troops fired on Wilkes supporters, killing 7 and wounding 15.

Four days later, Franklin wrote from London: "Some punishment seems preparing for a people who are ungratefully abusing the ... best king any nation was ever blessed with ..."

Six years later, Franklin and others were radicals like Wilkes, hiding from the the same King George, calling him a tyrant.

Politicians have always been the same. Changing positions, expedient, telling groups what they want to hear. Franklin excelled at this.

History class over. Back to math.

Unit...I don't know about building one
Then don't think about it.

Basically you know that watts that used to emit photons and heat. So, how efficiently is the question. So, that's why I asked about DIY. A log fire is lots of kwH and heat, and less light. LED is the other end. Watts of good light, for less heat, and less running cost. Trade for purchase cost. The more you get of those, the more you pay. So, it is really hard to say. There are a lot of claims and a lot of brands. But, I guess there is one more cost. call it magic sauce. It is their special this and special that. Confusing.

But, to buy one, you need watts of light And you have to realize they have to spend more than 1/2 your money just marketing them and recovering the development costs, etc.

So, what are your goals and what is your weight of wallet? :)

The history was a nice refresher. I prefer it over senselessness, which the last couple of pages are chalked full of (with a few exceptions of course).

@Sativied

I don't know what else to tell you man, I've shared my thoughts and concerns pertaining to your presence on this side of the forums and you've assured me that I'm most incorrect.

That being worded, I look forward to your insightful and upbeat comments in the coming future here in the LED section .

Just trying to understand Wizard. It does get brief but elegantly correct.

I figured it out. Those are multipliers of each nm in the SPD. Hey did I tell you I flunked LED. Nah. We didn't have LED, we didn't even have calculators.

And did you know, Isamu Akasaki inventor of the Blue LED in 1992, was awarded the Noble Prize for that in 2014?
