why have a seperate veg light which draws the same as your flower panel?

You can veg with a fraction of that wattage

Thanks for the tip about the aquarium light, read through an all white LED grow that looked sick so i def want to at least balance them in there. Thought you needed up to 6500k in the white? My 1st grow so far is in my sig, input is welcome.

No 6500k is a waste. between 4800k - 5400k is the best for veg. With the IR and 630 combined in veg. They will take off fast. With minimal stretching. IR makes them stretch 630 and 660 make nodes stay closer during veg. They don't need much 660 during veg. So what ever they use the plants can pull from the whites. All the blue you need is in the whites. But if you want to add blue(more photons). Just swap a 460 with a 2700k in veg. No blues during flower. The whites provide enough.

In fact how would he be able to perpetual if hes vegging bushes that his flower panel isnt big enough for, or vegging them too fast?

You clearly dont need to use the same amount of your wattage on veg as you do on flower so....

My point is, for example, that if you have a 100watt flower panel, a 100watt veg panel is overkill. You could achieve the results you want with like....a quarter of the wattage for veg. This is evidenced all over this forum.

So, yes you could just veg with CFL i guess, but my suggestion was simply a lower wattage panel for veg.

It's because max wattage at start--through--finish gives biggest yields is a fact. Outdoors plants get that 2000umol+/per sec as soon as they germinate. Indoors lowering your veg wattage is for heat/lower cooling costs/electrical savings/lower wattage load when running separate rooms/etc. and still give you "decent" results.

i use roughly 50 watts per sq ft 12/12 from seed and no matter what stage of growth they are under 50 watt/ sq.ft. except sometimes seedlings (when i am out of room). The seedlings under 50 watts / sq.ft are further than the rest. Sometimes I moved the plants to 30 watts per sq.ft tent for the last week or so ... just to let the trichs mature. I find plants benefit greatly from strong veg light and my plants veg and flower under the same wattage and same lights.

Which bulbs are the best for DIY: Cree, Osram, Bridgelux? Does it depend on which specific wavelength you are looking for? Is it better to go with the more 1W bulbs or less (1/3) 3W bulbs for the same net light output?

Thats a little steep for cheap chinese lights, the Cidly knockoff wouldn't break 90 wts. You need 250-300w minimum for that space. Seen a few grows using this guys lights...

You'd need 2x300w (about 180w real watts each). Can get them for 200 bucks a piece at Auction. So figure 400 to cover it. GL finding anything cheaper.

First time grower here, was going to use cfl, but have been toying with the idea of led. Would like some help with size and specs I should be looking for to fit my spaces. Will be running one veg and one flower space. Soil medium.

Spaces are 4' x 2' with more than ample height.
Looking to have 2-3 plants vegging and 1 flowering on a continuous rotation.

do I need 2 300 w per space or will one 300 per space be sufficient? Thanks in advance for any input/advice

I'd say a good start-up LED would be a BlackStar 240.
It will get you into how they work without many complications.
LED's and Watts, just throw that out the door. It's not like HID lighting.

The Blackstar is a thing of the past... Yea they'll give you results, but there are other companies that are in the same ballpark and are way ahead (ie. 2010 Blackstar tech vs. 2013 Vipar tech), hell... Even Cidly probably has done more research lately than Blackstar

I said as an introductory model. For someone who wants results plus little money down.
I'm not getting into the whole ordeal of which LED is superior, we will be here all fuckin year and into the next.
4' x 2' with ample height I would suggest 2 at least. BS get pretty deep into the canopy.
