What's best for a veg and flower in cxb 3590 at 700 mA just 3500k or do I want some different CCTs?
You'd want 5k-65k for veg.
27-3k for flower.
Those will give you the best results using Cobs alone for many reasons.
35K lights are the best middle ground to achieve both a decent veg & decent flower using only 1 Cob. They will not give you the best results for either. Good but not the best you can do.

It a bit like... Using Metal Halide for Veg And HPS for Flower.

Ideal, but peeps like me only veg for 3 weeks max , so heck we ran with the HPS full cycle.

Now Ill tell you this Im running the 3500K 3590s

its closer to a Halide in spectrum than the hps was... kinda in between.

so just run the 3500K full cycle is my view.

This looks like a really good led. @142000 lumens bright af
And at about 1.60 a watt
Yeah, I like these lights as much as I can for never holding one. If they are what they seem, I'd take one of them over any other all white cob light out there. Especially for the price! They look like grow-beasts! Ha!

But, if you want something better for allot less denero, I'd go with Mars Hydro, or Hydroponics Hut for about the same price! If you wanna spend Allot more, I'd have to say Kind, or PLC. All the above mentioned companies have the best claims money can buy! And w/o claims what good are they, right?!

Disco fever is for your mom
Hey Cuddles n Bubbles, what did them Maxis run you, if you don't mind me asking? Did they upgrade to CXB's?Top-bin? MeanWell?
Are those vents 4" or 6"? Tell me the details if you would. I rather ask a person that has one in his hands. First thing I noticed was build quality, specially cuz I directly compared it to another comparable light. Similiar in many ways as far as lens array & design. Both high-end comp. I thought.
I'd like to see a nice burple w/ 120• lens or reflector in the middle of that Maximizer!
Ifs it hollow in the center & you own 2, it might be worth the retro-fit. Then you can see the difference. Ohh, idea, i hear the Reds don't raise the par-meter much, like the blues do. That could equal outs to less intensity to avoid over-kill, like another white cob may be. Dunno! Stoned!peace!
Hope you like them, congrats!

I'm setting up a 3' x 3' flowering tent, could really use some help. I've been trying to read as much as I can about DIY COBs but it's been somewhat overwhelming with everything else in life. My eyes are in a lot of pain so any help is appreciated.

My engineer buddy has graciously volunteered to build me a light if I provide the supplies, so I've been trying to research what to buy. Every time I think I know what to purchase, I get sidetracked by new results/possibilities. If it's not too difficult, could someone post a list of supplies needed to build an ideal fixture for a 3x3 flowering space? I just want to make sure I don't regret any purchases. Open to any ideas, just want a light that will last.

Hello guys,

I am converting a mars II 900w (5W epistar chips) after a lot of headaches with it, and I am not sure what to go for.
The specs are:
Mars 2 900W 5w chips. 9 drivers inside: Voltage max 112v. Amperage max 0.71Amp also 4 fans at 12V 0.3 amp
My growing space is 0.7m wide x 0.8m deep x 2m high.
I've got the aluminium piece cut to size, cables, soldering station, thermal paste,etc... But I can't decide if to go for soft vero's 29, try a citizen c.o.b. or go for soft cree 3590 or 3070, (but the price of it and it's availability in Europe is a problem) .
It will be mainly for flower as I just grow autos and I veg them in a small box with a mix of CFL +T5 Tenda panoramica.jpg

U guys think an Advanced Platinum P300 will be perfect to grow one heavy yielding plant in a 4x4x7tall grow tent? I will be main-lining and LSTing in probably a 30-40 gallon pot

I know your looking for ~1 LB? Would you consider a 180g yield as a success in that situation? Thats about what you would get. And spreading it all over the 4x4 will give you mostly larf and fluff buds.
Not to mention...
Round plant+rectangle fixture= poor coverage and uniformity.
180w actual wattage? in a 4x4? LED's are magical.

Much better for the money...But still need to be ontop of your game to hit a unit with them.
http://growershouse.com/lights/ceramic-mh-reflectors-lamps-bulbs-grow-lights

If easy yield is more important...throw a 1000w or 750w DE in there for near the same price...
http://growershouse.com/lights/double-ended-de

Cooling with an intake fan will be the same. Regardless of HPS or LED you will need a 6" inline fan and a filter setup for that tent. LED might run it on lower(say 25w instead of 80w), but you still have to buy it. When using an AC, you will see a bigger difference.
I love LED's. But I don't love seeing people buy shitty ones for the sake of getting an LED. Then inevitably blaming all LEDs based on one that was destine to fail from the start. Buy one that will do what it's intended or stick with what will...HID. I own a LED company and am telling you to get a hps. It's the best choice in your price range.

kinda agreed. if you only have a limited budget, you need to sacrifice efficiency and make sure whatever you buy is at least going to do what you need it to do. or plan to start smaller.

That said, that advanced platinum is $360 and only 180W

a diy kit like a timber or a cutter is not much more than that and is 200 cob watts and will crush the advanced platinum.

if you can afford an advanced platinum you can afford a 200W cree kit.you can also build a 300+W citi kit for the same price and any of those will give an LEC a run for its money

another very attractive option is to buy like 200 cob watts for $400, and then spend another $100 and buy 10 15W A19 bulbs. they are not as efficient as the best cobs but still watt for watt are way better than fluorescent and approaching if not exceeding HPS/LEC on lumens/watt delivered to the canopy

and after your first crop upgrade the A19s to cobs

He wants a lb..and I'm sure won't complain about more.
There is not a 200w kit or even 300w the can give an easy unit. Not to mention true plug and play.
A DE(750 or 1000) will and then some. Even a 600w DE can handle his needs just fine. But when it comes to HID not much of a price difference between the 600w or 1000w, so might as well get more bang for your buck with the 1K's. And are dimmable to 750, an supposedly not loosing efficacy while doing so.

I need a little advice. I`ve got grow tent 5x10 ! now I have 6x8 cxb3590 3500k 80cri cd bin with glass lenses, hlg320h-1050b.
So I need advise. should it work on the maximum power. or I should put less power there? what you think?
next question is that I`ve need to make delivery from Jerry kingbrite. And I can spend some more money there.
His offer cxb3590 3000k 90cri bd bin 36,5$. So what you think, is it justify, if I`ll take some for mixing with 3500K and 4000K 80cri? or it`s wasting of money.

I don`t mean, that I will only add 3000K. I am thinking, to change some 3500 k 80cri on 3000 k 90cri. and than I`ve got Idea to make bigger grow room with that 3500k. But it`s only about future....

He used a driver that is 300w rated.
Can you please elaborate a little. How do you get 300 watts of light from a driver/power supply/ballast that only puts out 200 watts max. ? I don't get how this is possible. The driver listed as the one provided is 200 watts max unless its just the one in the pic.

Its because the driver is rated in gigawatts. That driver is 1.21 gigawatts not watts. The Libyans made that driver the night they were driving around in that VW.

Yeah from what im gathering the LED isnt looking like a great choice. Couple people said go with a DE but idk i feel like for that i might as well stick to a cheap regular 600w HPS setup. I figured the LEDs would get me there and save on electricity but i guess thats not the case without paying 700+...im def not about to build my own...too much hassle for me

Are you in a tent or small room? If so, I'd go w/ a vented hood rather then DE. Maybe you said earlier in the thread!? A well vented HPS hood isn't to bad in a small space. Always need Ac of course.
If you have $800-900 I could refer you to the led fixture for you. You won't get a big fixture you can count on for no $400.
If you just wanna grow now, grab HPS. full set up $400. You want good led, double that. Many advantages to led though that continuously save you money!
