Hello All, New Member here and New grower. Ive been very interested in starting a small 2x2.5ft LED grow, I feel the longer I try to research what would suit me best the more lost I get in what is going to be a true quality product outside of building my own LED. I don't have access to equipment to build my own unfortunately. Anyhow If anyone could advise me on a proven LED for a 2x2.5ft space Please let me know, budget wont be much of an issues as I will be using tax money :P

I've lurked the forum's for quite a while now, and initially wanted to start with a 4x4 area. After realizing that I do not have as much to pay for a large setup, I've brought myself down to a 3x3 tent.

I've been trying to figure out if I should put

8x CXB 3070 3500k BB onto 2x HLG-185H-C1400B

in this configuration (on 5.886" heatsinks)

3,2,3

or

10x CXB 3070 3500k BB onto 2x HLG-240H-C1400B

in this configuration (on 5.886" heatsinks)

3,4,3

I know that I can fit 5 CXB 3070's onto the HLG-240H-C1400B, and 4 onto the HLG-185H-C1400B.

Is the 8 COB configuration not enough for the 3'x3' space? Would the 10 COB configuration work better, or is too much light?

CXB 3070 BB @ 1400ma = ~8197 lm ------

Besides this issue, I've done well in figuring out most of my other questions from the recent DIY tech talks that @Greengenes707, @Growmau5, and @robincnn have been putting up.

I especially want to thank @Greengenes707 and @Growmau5 for the video's they have put up, I've learned so much.

Suffice to say, I'm about to place my order on PLC. I wanted to get a grow started since last May, and just could not afford the startup. Back then I was entertaining a purchase from Growblue, even one of those horrid blurple Mars lights. Yikes. Finding this forum near the end of the summer was godsend.

Awesome. They are both good and efficient combos.
The first(8on 2 1400 185's" is probably the best/most practical choice for your space.
But #2 is hard to not do cause the cost gets better per watt to build. But will probably end up dimming it most of the time...but also have the ability to crank it up to 11.
You can't go wrong with either...I know that is not an deciding answer, but it's just hard to pick.

Use the code "diy10" when you check out.

Thank you for the quick reply and advice.

I was tempted by the hlg 240 1400... but I kept thinking that I'd be dimming the setup as well, so I think I'll stick with 8 COB's on 2x hlg 185 1400.

I'm more familiar with mycology, the next COB project I have after getting the tent up will be for signalling primordia formation in Pleorautus. I'll likely use a small bank of Vero 10's. The mushrooms do not need much light for a signal, but I'd like to test whether certain intensities help or have no effect. I'll be disgregarding PAR, throwing it out the window, it seems.

Hey @Greengenes707, you just added new stuff to your store! Ratchet hangers, thermal pads, Ledil diffusers... I was looking for those too! Are you putting up any other products?

Thanks again buddy.
