I am replacing all my 1k hps's. I am torn if I should be running 3590's at 1050 mah or 1400. I watch growmau5 channel and he recommends 1050 mah for efficiency but I would need/want nearly 1 cob per sq foot of space. If I were to drive them at 1400 to start with how many cobs per sq f would be recommended to give equal coverage/power of running them at 1050? I do not want to be short on light.

I'd run em at 1750 or even 2100 mA!

For 250 sq/ft you'll need 12.500 watts that's 50w per sq/ft which is optimal and that would be 250 cobs of the CXB3590 at 56% efficiency.
That is running them at 1050 mah? If I were to run them at 1750 I would need approx 160 cobs correct?

at 1400ma, but some people want to run them harder and won't be able to passively cool their light and you lose photons. Also you'd be looking at least $22,000 in parts for sure. Don't be confuse about how many watts are being driven per cob but how much PPF is produced at a lower current.

Using the DIY cob calculator it says 20 3590's at 1750 mah in 30 sq f area would give 980 ppfd, so 160 should be enough for 240 square foot, correct? Or am I doing it wrong? :)

Or, you know, not that much. Respectfully, I'm not sure 1400 PPFD is optimal. That curve flattens out at the top.

You could just do the math yourself if you want. Lumens * .01435 gives you PPF, divide by area in square meters to get PPFD.

@REALSTYLES is recommending a fuckton of light. Nothing wrong with that, but it will sure cost you.

Every carbon fixation curve looks like that, the ppfd numbers just change.

So 40% more light for umm...5% more yield? That's a different type of inefficiency, maybe it makes sense, maybe it doesn't. But thems the facts.

how much of that is grow space and how is it actually laid out.......if it is seperated into sections or 4x4 stations ....or just 250sqft of grow like a big ass room you are just gonna stick a shit ton of plants in
