If you grow legally what can the cops really do?

Ok,

I am a cardholder and have been for about a year now. I am under my plant count with 8 total. I never have more than 2.5oz on hand. Plus the trim that's left over from each chop. I try to get rid of it asap after I am done trimming my meds.

The other day a close friend of mine got raided and they seized all of his plants and lights etc. He was over his count so they took his car, his money, and all things of value in his home. I don't have anything to do with his problem...but...I am in his cell phone and we talk alot. He is my family and a very close friend of mine and has been since we were little kids.

I know that I am legal 100%..Even my grow room is locked down like a jail cell. Nobody knows its there except a few of my closest family members. I am not afraid I am, or have been snitched on..but the cops know he and I are friends and I am hoping that they don't come to where I grow and try to tear up all of my stuff.

What can the cops really do if they were to raid me?

If I am legal can they take any of my stuff or meds and make me fight for it even though I am totally legit?

Please share your thoughts on this..I have been thinking about shutting down my grow, but what will I do for my meds? I cant get them any other way, but I dont want to lose my home, car, or spend a shit load of cash to prove I am not doing anything wrong!

If you have any experience with raids or being unlawfully raided please respond. I just need to know what I should do at this point.

I don't tell, you can't smell, and I don't sell...I hope my friend doesn't bring unwanted attention to my private matters with this stupid raid he had.

I've never been raided. But, raids are based on a warrant being issued..a complaint being filed. Even if you listen to all the paranoia about the cops making their own complaints and getting their own warrants, the fact of the matter is that in Michigan the cops can only say "thanks..sorry about the inconvenience" if they enter and find a legit grow with proper paperwork.

That said, there are some localities, such as Wyoming Mi (outside Grand Rapids) that have passed local ordinances stating that they will uphold federal law, and view any cannabis as illegal. So you do need to be aware of your local ordinances.

Also, if you were raided by the Feds...well you could have a problem. If you've gotten the attention of the Feds...they are looking for something bigger that a legit grow. So the chance of someone operating as you describe, in a locality without any 'zero tolerance ordinances', has about the same risk of a raid as someone getting hit by lightning.

Edited, just to let you know that I am not a lawyer, and this is only my opinion....

Out of curiosity, how far over plant count was your friend? Also, was your friend a self grow only, or a caregiver with patients?

Well from what I know he was not a caregiver. He was over by 12 plants that were rooted clones in veg. There was no usable meds there just the plants. I didn't go into his grow room very often. His lights went on when I was at work so when I went there I never saw what was in flower. Just in the veg room.

Our buddy Rzza got raided and left alone.
It's always good to hear a happy ending. Just depends on who your hero is.

If it Michigan, 12 over is double the limit. Yup, that's gonna be a problem.

From wha I understand certain localities are enacting zoning bans but that is mere inconvinience because FEDERAL LAWS CANNOT be arugued in STATE courts, but those few areas where bans have been enacted usually use a federal agent so that IF you beat your local charges you get trumped at the FED level always which is what the Steele Smith case is shooting for, a total eradication of Federal medical marijuana raids!!!

Good assessment. If your local community has passed local laws to counter the State law.....don't grow, or move. Not fair, don't like it.

I'm not a cg for that very reason. My locality has no ordinances against patient grows. But a caregiver must register, get a business license, and submit to inspections. I'm not comfortable with that..so I don't seek a cg card.

First things first, GET A LAWYER, they can put a dent in your wallet but its best to have one and be able to run your scenarios over with. Also, cops wil do some of the DIRTIEST things to get a warrant, also NEVER TALK TO THEM OR LET THEM INSIDE YOUR HOME,MAKE THEM GET A WARRANT OR KICK THE DOOR IN ILLEGALLY!!!

What can a cop do? Once he arrests you or write a ticket you will spend a ton of money and time fighting it. And I mean a TON of MONEY.

I'm thinking of stopping.

I've heard the dramatic stories but have yet to meet anyone thats been victimized by the law.
And the cleanliness of the cops is a direct reflection of the cleanliness of growers.

The less we police ourselves the more they will .
Think about that every time you hear people talking about breaking the laws and how it's ok because it should be legal.

Disclaimer, I know there are cases where the law has gone astray, but in reality to the numbers they are few and far in between.
I learned to stop fearing authorities when I stared following the law.

It all depends on your location. Which county/city are you in?

of alot of people that got shit on.

a bunch of outdoor guys got it right before harvest. i know of about a dozen, larger ones off hand. no news story, or link. no charges either.
just a bunch of huge outdoor plants ripped.

i feel really bad for those guys. while others where raping the market, these guys were waiting. only to have the cops take the shit and put it on the market themselves. just gotta have one of the cop buddies to have a card and it's all legal beagle.

then the guys that didn't get busted. there weed is almost worthless right now. the market is flooded.

Let the market flood. Let it drop the prices to where it should be. I dont consider 150-200 an ounce worthless. Let it be determined by the patients that are looking for quality and the market will work itself out. Grow better meds and get better compensation. Thats the way it should work.

Its unbelievable what's being called "Medical Marijuana".. I had better quality when dealing with the Black Market.. And paid ahelluvalot less than what's being charged for an oz of so called "Medical Marijuana" today!!

Simply put.. if I still had my Black Market source I'd pay like $350 a QP!! :-O where as at a Dispensary or else where its $350+ and the skies the limit.. !! That's outrageous..

But anyways.. back to what I really wanted to say.. It sounds as though, the best way to keep from getting "Raided" is to go to your local Police Department & let them know your a Registered Michigan Medical Marijuana Patient an that you are growing your own Meds.. !! And providing them with, either your Card or Paperwork to validate it.. Eh.. ?!?!

And yes from personal experience I have been in a raid.. !! A "REAL" Raid.. ATF DEA blah blah blah.. Not fun having a boot on your neck & a loaded gun to your head.. !! heh heh heh oh and barking dog in your face.. !! Lmao.. But digress.. Glad your ok RZZA..
