If you had to go live on an isolated island for 5 years, but could only take 1 seed?

Whatever it is it would be a 50/50 hybrid wake and bake and sleepy time. Who could ask for more on a desert Island...well maybe Taylor Swift but even she would one day be an old spoiled MILF. But by the time them perkies start looking like wind socks on a still day, I will likely be under a nice plot of clones. So I still say bring Taylor along.

Iv discussed this but never over one seed I couldnt imagine lol.i always just said a few or a handfull. But I would say it would be a f1 of some sort. That way I wouldnt be able to run them all out, X All of them then save them individually and create different strains basically...Would be cool I think lol.then id build a hut made of stalks and light one up! lol id figure out someway to smoke it.aside widdeling a woodin bowl or something lol.

Ehh...Id probably take my Tahoe OG-x-PlushBerry.Then id have a decently wide range of directions I could run,and would run lol.Id have the OGkush side I could run out and stabilize more, there would be the Blackcherry Soda phenos!!!!! and to top it off im sure there would be a Space Queen in there to.and with enough selection im sure would be found. So I meen thats like 3-4 forsure phenos you could find, well "likely"and not to mention all the inbetween phenos that im sure would be kickass to.lol id be sittin fat in a cave or a hut somewhere lol.Eatin fruits and berrys and monkeys and shit lmao! but hey doing something like im talking about youd have sativa, indica and everthing that comes with the two.be nice to have a Real Sativa in there somewhere just to spice things up but I could totally deal with that lol.Oh and as a smoking device i would create a bong out of bamboo and possibly use it as the downstem to,with a small woodin bowl. But goodluck on your islands yall!

whatever seeds from cali connections that autoflowered and hermies. that way i can constantly have seeds and plants going all year round, i could use that 5 years to breed and stabilize the strain.

Do I have access to electricity and artificial lights on this island? What is the latitude? (IE can I successfully grow outdoor equatorial sativa strains?). These things do factor into the strain decision.

Going with what's already been said, if you're really stranded indefinitely on the proverbial "Gilligan's Island" with no electricity or outside contacts whatsoever, and can only have one seed, you'd ideally want it to be a hermie so at least you'd have some chance of creating more seeds and maintaining the line.

Otherwise, without artificial light you couldn't maintain clones in the off season, and so when your ONE plant reached maturity and the growing season was over your plant. . .and line. . .would die! Without the ability to keep clones, one seed = one plant, and that's it.

If you thought this was likely, one thing you might do is wait until the earliest part of the season possible to plant the seed and then once it got big enough, clone the F out of it while its still in the vegetative growth period. If you could turn your one seed into say 50 or 100 vegetative plants before autumn flowering, then at least your ONE harvest might be pretty big to tide you over for a while.

Note that even if your one plant were a male, this could still be a viable strategy. Males still have enough THC that if I were on this "desert island" I wouldn't just give up on one.

If you're going with a hermie plant, then ideally you'd also want it to be a "mutt" F1 so that it carried a variety of genetic traits. A reasonable seed choice for that might have had parents that look something like this (Landrace Sativa 1 x pure Indica 1) mom x (Ruderalis/indica hybrid 1 x landrace Sativa 2) dad.

This way, with the appropriate selective breeding on your part, you could generate landrace like Sativa plants that might acclimate themselves well to your island, autoflower plants (of varying phenotypes) and even indica-heavy phenotypes. It would be a lot of work to maintain these lines outdoors, but if you were careful about selection, hand pollenization, kept your seeds separate and kept good notes, it could be done. If you're by yourself on an island, you'd have the time, I guess.

Alternatively, if you simply spread the seeds around, they'd open pollinate and after a few generations, only the ones most acclimated to your particular environment would survive natural selection, so you'd end up with some sort of "landrace". You'd do well to make sure you applied artificial selection to maintain potency here, otherwise it might erode.

Having nice tall Sativa phenotypes could be good just to generate hemp-fiber (to make rope and such). Not only are the hemp seeds themselves pretty nutritious, but they also work well as fish bait, another plus.

Five grow cycles isn't really enough to establish stable lines, though it probably is enough to get you most of the way there creating several dominant phenotypes.

So if you know you've got only five years, and can only grow outdoors, then you might want to forgo breeding.

In that case, you'd just want something that's a landrace acclimated to whatever island you're on. That way you know it will do well.

Maybe the question is better posed "if you can only take a few seeds from ONE STRAIN, what would it be"? That way you eliminate need for hermies, cloning, etc.

Ak-47. It is a combination of many types and over time the different pheno expressions could be experimented with....

Yeah with only one seed I would wont a herm to,atleast then you could continue the line. Id have to sneak a few seeds in or something though.1 just wont cut it lol.
