Temp testing time....

Ambient room temp
73f

This test lasted about 3 hours but I figured what the average temp would be in about a hour. I would like to do a worse case senario type test soon where ambient temp is about 85f

Here is the reading of the driver itself after about 3 hours of run time keep in mind there is no noticeable air movement in this area of the room. This driver seems hot to me but I'm guessing this is about average? I never realized how hot these things get. I'm glad I left the driver open for sure.

After 3 hours...127f. This is again with little if any air movement in this room. This was done in a non vented side of a room although it is still 73 ambient. I really wanted as little airflow in the room as possible. So far I'm fairly impressed with the 140mm pin sinks although I expected cooler numbers I'm sure there will be a big improvement when there is some airflow.

Thermocouple on the edge of the cob itself
If thermocouple is on the side of COB but not the Tsp, then I guess its heatsink temperature.
I usually measure heatsink temp Ths directly opposite to cob on back of heatsink
Your Ths is 52.7C which means Tsp or Tc should be under 60C, which is really good.
You are seeing 42 watts of heat and 30C rise so 0.714 C/W , which is really good for a worst case scenario. The old 140mm pins were 10mm smaller and would have given you 0.762C/W

Like you said ,there will be a big improvement in grow space with fans on.

I have a 0.55C/W heatsink that weighs the same as 140. Should have it end of this month. Will be testing it against the 160-100 giga heatsink

I'm doing another test today just to make sure the numbers are consistent but so far it looks to be the same the driver has some heat coming off of it for sure 119f again today. What temps is everyone seeing from their drivers?

Drivers get fairly hot. It's Completely normal friend. Don't stress. It's why you see a lot of folks wiring their druvers so they're remotely outside the tent or grow space/area. I've got 2x 3-CXB3070 passive fixtures each on their own 2100mA driver and I see temps as high as 150*F sometimes. Theyre mounted onto the extruded bar like a lot of people do but, they're in an open area so it's fine.

I tested it at approx 50% output and driver temp is averaging 98f and the cob itself about 102f

I wish I saw this thread earlier today. I picked up some 80/20 to do almost the exact same thing. Shit got expensive with all the pieces and parts but it's only money. I'm doing the powder coated black with red slot covers to add some color. I'll be sure to add my shots here. Again great work man.

I've been wondering about using diffusers. I'm using an opaque greenhouse cover and I'm growing the best greenhouse plants I've ever grown! Its got to be the diffuse light.
