Illegal vs hispanic

Whenever there's a discussion of immigration it quickly becomes about latin american migrants and mexicans in particular. It seems like most of the anti-immigrant crowd is more upset at people speaking spanish rather than people being here without papers.

So be honest, is your problem with immigrants about them being here without papers or about them being mexican/hispanic....?

Not really....

I'm just observing that every thread about immigration ends up being a couple of people shouting about how they don't like it that half their town speaks spanish and how there's a lot of mexicans hanging in front of home depot. I figured we could just cut right to the chase and skip all that bs about how it's only the 'illegal ones' we don't like....

Like I said: "He's looking for a race angle so he can play the racism card. It's what they do".

Wait, I remember you! You are that fool that doesn't even understand that an upper-class area and a lower-class area are two completely different environments. How typical.

What really burns me is that our country has become much more restrictive post 9/11 from airport security, to building security, no telling how many new laws and restrictions have been implemented to "Keep us safe" not to mention the billions this cost us and we have a northern and southern border that any Tom dick or chico can simply hike right into this country.

I suggest we build an Top secret Area 52 along the southern border and an area 53 along the northern border seeing how well our government keeps people out of area 51 .

I've noticed this too. the topic starts off by talking about immigration, and then someone trys to agree and say they hate it when they see mexicans (insert place here) and then others that compared mexicans to breeding rats?! wtf?

this pisses me off.
I'm Hispanic, and my girlfriend is a Legal imagrent, that was born in mexico, and in a US citizen. (shes got a bachelors degree, and speaks better English then most people i know)

Be honest? Upset because they speak Spanish?????? lmao Your perception of the anti illegal crowd is anything but honest.

When it comes to illegal integration and racism the racism agenda is very minor. It is only the liberal left that continues to play the race card because they have nothing else to fall back on.

Never mind that the thieving illegals are stealing jobs along with the help of corrupt businesses that hire them. Never mind that the thieving illegals are overcrowding our schools and sacrificing the future of our children. Never mind the money lost and overcrowding the thieving illegals cause with our hospitals which has lowered the quality of health care. Never mind the individuals who have seen their hourly wage drop because illegals have flooded and infested those jobs and therefore is now on the government mule. Nope can't be any of that, it's because the anti illegal crowd is racist.

The funny thing is the pro illegal backers are the racist ones. La Raza comes to mind.

would you prefer we all ignore the fact that the vast majority of illegal immigrants in this country are hispanic? should we just ignore the numerous enclaves around the nation that consider themselves more a part of mexico or other southern countries than of the u.s. and that make no attempt to homogenize their cultures with those of their neighbors? we have second and third generation hispanic households whose predominant home language is still spanish and they are forcing this country to adopt measure to conform to their way of life. shouldn't we be more concerned with the problems this creates than with the occasional canadian, asian or european that overstays his visa? when one of mexico's primary sources of revenue is the flood of remittance checks sent by millions of their citizens working in this country (illegally or otherwise), doesn't it become rather obvious that our economy is both supporting our own people and propping up the decaying structure of our third world neighbor?

See, this is what I'm talking about....

Most of what you just talked about doesn't apply to illegal immigrants in particular, but to all migrants. People who have legal documents to work here also send money back home and cling to their language and culture. Your argument is one against immigration in general.

And by the way, I'm not saying everyone who is anti-immigrant is necessarily prejudice or a racist, it's just that a lot of attitudes about immigration seem to revolve around language and culture more than about people's immigration documents....? Remember, there are also shit-tons of LEGAL hispanic migrants in this country....

It's also interesting that back when our immigration laws were blatantly racist, there were no restrictions on people from the americas. It wasn't until the great depression that it became a 'problem'.

Stop blaming all our problems on people who come here to make a better life for themselves. It's not because of mexicans without visas that we're in the middle of two wars, an environmental disaster and facing fiscal armageddon. We've only got ourselves to blame for the most part...

we shouldn't ignore illegal immigrants from south america. they're already a HUGE demographic within the US.

corporations have already started marketing to this demographic, seizing the opportunity, rather than shunning it.

the US has a lot more to loose by shunning these members of society and somehow exiling them than by figuring for a way for having them stay here legally.

these people can't even vote, how they might be 'forcing' society to change is beyond me. if you're talking about giving driving tests in languages other than english, it's a public safety issue that immigrants, either legal or not, know the laws on the road in this country.

most illegals i know, care little about anything except when they get to go to work next. they have no plans on changing their society... actually, it's rich white guys that stand to make a lot of money from social programs, who most support and finance initiatives that benefit illegals...

you might talk about a fringe group of 100 or so mexicans who follow the Azlatan philosophy, and make a big deal out of it...

yet the Aryan Brotherhood, with more than 10,000 members behind bars, and thousands more roaming the streets preaching hate... better leave them alone...they're legal citizens, they're the good guys...... is it because they're white?? probably.

repukes want to castigate illegals for comming to this country to do the jobs americans don't want to do. they don't offer any sort of solution for the economic conditions that make 2% of the american population own 90%+ of the wealth.

city streets get full of vandals, america has some of the worst high school success rates of any industrialized nation, a buddy of mine from Harvard said he only had one class where there were more americans than foreign students (America is getting dumber folks) youth obesity has become a serious problem, there's 10million gallons of oil spewing a few miles off Louisiana.... but it's the illegals who pose the real problem....

PUHLEEAASSEEE.....

He's full of shit. The Aryan Brotherhood only has a few thousand members, if that. And that includes the numbers on the streets.
One of the biggest criminal gangs in and out of the prison system is the Mexican Mafia.

are you folks being intentionally obtuse or is it that you really see no difference between the orderly migration of the path to legal citizenship and the rodent-like scurrying of illegals crossing in the middle of the night? it seems the best you can muster is misdirection and the last ditch effort of tossing in the race card. you decry the racism and violence of groups like the aryan brotherhood, yet downplay the inherent racism of organizations like la raza and the rampant violence of hispanic gangs that rule many of our cities and prisons. yours is tolerance run amok, a blind denial of tradition and the rule of law for the sake of retribution for america's real or imagined sins. it's a childish game with its roots in the mindless rebellion of adolescence and a waste of time and energy to try to refute.
