I’m curious is this good or bad?

hey guys so I have my new run going and I seem to notice this on like one or two plants just on the top layer of soil. Look like a brownish type fungus it’s not moving or anything just looks like some kind of good bacteria or could it be a bad thing? Let me know I have been dealing with this every grow I scrape it off and it never comes back or bothers me again.

That doesn't look too good to me. I would just scrap that soil if you keep reusing it and start fresh.

Are you top dressing?

I’m still pretty new to growing but would have to say that’s not good. I’d dump that soil and use some fresh soil. You may have also over watered which could be a contributing factor.

So it comes up, you scrape it off, and it doesn't return? Weird. Are you using bag soil or mixing your own?

Yea I’m going to transplant in a few days but the plants look great they are in dire need of a transplant so Saturday I’m going to have to buy like 5 bags of soil

No it’s not slimy

I’m pretty sure it’s from overwatering my guess is because they need a transplant there sucking up water so fast that sometimes the top is still wet and the bottom is dry. Like they literally suck yo water so fast within 8 hours. I’ve been using the ac water and they seem to be liking it they just drink it faster maybe because it’s distilled? I have been adding some cal mag to it.

use anything like fish emulsion? or alfalfa meal? looks like alfalfa meal if i forget to mix it into the soil after top dressing.

plants "drink" based on RH, if they're drinking a lot, try raising your RH a little.

Yea it’s just the very top layer and I’m using fox farm ocean forest no additives

Is that a quantum board with active and passive cooling?

Yes man sure is it’s 260 watts I built it myself. I took the heat sink form a shitty led light then bought the boards and drivers slapped her together she’s been working like a champ
