Doesn't a plant need 12 hours or MORE darkness to flower?

The reason i ask is because I started to cover my babies outside to force flower, I missed the clock for 12/12 shortly after i started so I simpily let it go an extra hour of darkness and continued that pattern of uncovering at 830am and covering at 730pm......

Ive been doing this for about a month now so I'm worried if i go back to 12/12 would it confuse my babies?

BTW they are flowering and have continued so, I think everything is fine.....I guess I am just worried and second guessing myself

Shd I just leave it alone or shd it be 12/12?

Thxs.....plus rep for good answers

18-6 till you want them to bud bro then u go 12-12, if its outside your plants will do it automatically when the sunlight changes towards fall

My problem is I started early, way way early and my plants are 7 foot tall and I have already beeen covering them roughly a lil more than a month give or take, i WAS DOING 12/12 but I slept in one day and was an hour late uncovering, so the next day and so on I did same and slept in, and so now for the last few weeks my babies have been getting about 13 hours of darkness and 11 hours of light. They are flowering and everything seems fine but I see so many people saying it must be 12/12, am I going to ruin or hurt my plants giving them 13 hours of darkness and 11 hours of light? Shd I stop being lazy and wake up and go back to 12/12 or could this cunfuse them as they have been 13/11 for a few weeks now?

You're fine but now you gotta stay on top if it. I do 13/11 the first 2 weeks of flower then I go 12/12 for 5-7 weeks(depending on strain) and then I go 10/14 when I flush for 7-10 days. take in mind I'm doing indoor.

covering them? i dought this is stopping ALL of the light. and if its not, u will have messed up plants. the 12 of dark MUST BE TOTAL BLACKNESS!

as long they get their 12 hours or more of continual darkness each and every night it's OK they will produce enough budding hormone to stay in flower. Extra hours off lighting would be more problematic making them revert to veg.

Yes it blocks out all light. I have a greenhouse and then I have another greenhouse inside of the main greenhouse, the main greenhouse is clear plastic the smaller greenhouse inside the bigger green house gets covered with black plastic, I go inside eveynight when I cover to make sure no light peeping in, pitch black I can't see my hand in front of my face.

Hey 420 i believe the additional darkness may speed up your flowering, It definately won't hurt. You must have some sort of sativa to get that tall so you will need the extra length to achieve a proper flowering

The technique I use it's like mimicking nature and I've been doing it for years with no problems. As for extra hours off lighting would be more problematic making them revert to veg your wrong. It's when you give them more light the plant would reveg.

Wrong I have a friend who does it all year using a tent to cover the plants outdoors with no problems.
