i took my new purchased truck to the shop this morning. dropped it off at 8am. first thing. my wife said she saw the mechanic jumping in it as we pulled away. i'm having a leak down/compression test done. this will determine if i bought a lemon or not. he said he'd call me in a couple hours. it's now 2pm. i don't know what to think. it's a 3 hour test. it's my usual mechanic and they are VERY prompt so i can't really call. i just sit here waiting........:?

Its ok...he's probably just hitting a few corners in your truck....If you call and he doesnt answer/cant come to the phone.....its ok....If he comes to the phone and tells you to come down there.....not so good.

So call....Tell him you're so anxious for the results...you couldnt wait.

Most states do have inspections...so yes....But every state has differing qualifications...California is probably the toughest.....Other states...Like Georgia dont even have inspections if Im not mistaken.

do you guys not have a yearly test that has to be carried out on the car otherwise it's deemed non roadworthy.

here we go........

we have to get smog checks here every 2 years or whenever the vehicle changes owners. he had a smog check done on it before he sold it to me. it was still valid so all was well........until i looked under the hood. it's all there he just disconnected everything after he passed the smog test.:-|

it's fucked. 10% leak down on 6 pistons. 15% on the other 2. the motor guy is on vacation until wed. so i'm not positive but it looks like i need to pull the motor.

OUCH! I don't know much about engines, but if they have to pull it out that can't be good :(
