I'm in Northern California and I'm wondering what you guys recommend. Should I start topping them? I have til August before there going to start flowering and my greenhouse is about 8' tall. I dug out about 1' under each one and put new soil in the hole before putting them in these smart pots.

You can always top or lst, although if you were honna top you should have done it a while ago. Height and shape can always be controlled by lst

Thanks, I am going to do some research on topping these this late. I haven't really done LST before, time to try something new!

Looking good.
You might be better off with mesh walls & a plastic roof, it's gonna get might humid in there come Aug.
Good luck

Thanks for tip Doublejj ! Yeah after reading around and seeing all these Screenhouses I've been thinking about that because It gets 105 here sometimes and on a 85 day its pretty damn hot in there, despite screen sections I have on the sides.

I'll bet those gals will have that greenhouse of yours packed and stacked come harvest time, bgoodgrow. Lookin' good! Yea, all plastic greenhouses can be a cooker. It generally takes a bigass exhaust fan w/thermostat and well located vents to get a good handle on temp and humidity. Unless the all plastic design is also intended for cold weather use, I also like doublejj's suggestion for screened side walls.

I use both LST and topping. In my experience different strains respond to topping in different ways and at different speeds. I've seen plants rebound from topping with visible growth tips in as little as 48 hours to as long as 10/12 days and even sometimes never...lol. With some strains topping will encourage secondary growth and with others it can induce stretching. All strains I've worked with are very responsive to LST.

Experiment? Top a couple? LST a bunch? Top and LST? Leave a couple alone? Hit one with a 2x4?

What strains are you running, bgoodgrow?

Thanks Speed! Lol hit one with a 2x4, that's my type of humor. These strains are feminized seeds from Cali connection. One is Corleone Kush ( Pre98 Bubba X SFV OGK F4) 55/45 sativa dominate
and the other is 818 Headband which is a new name the came up with for Sour OG 60/40 sativa.
I have limited space obviously so I wanted to make sure these were girls, not sure of the pro's and con's of going with feminized seeds yet.
Super excited about these and I'm going to get in there today and do some cutting and tying. I'll post another picture tomorrow. Thanks Speedsquare!

Things go right with temp control etc, you're barely going to be able to walk/crawl in there in several months. Be mindful on your grooming, but keep the idea of trees trapped inside an 8 foot ceiling in check. Without previous runs on whatever mix that really is, you'll have to gage response to topping and how aggressive you can break/LST in there. Topping with proper care is rarely an issue and will prevent you from having to do it later when they are touching the ceiling in there.

Also have to watch for burn as they grab those plastic walls. Mixed effect problem. Direct tissue damage of course, but also disease vector from necrotic materials and exaggerated transpiration rates to the affected limbs.

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice Psari. I might end up ripping that cheap 4m down all around the sides once they start touching. Yeah I got in there and topped them just now. Really surprised at how thirsty they get in these smart pots! Had to break down and start giving them city water :cuss: instead of the rain water that I had collected. Water is too expensive.
