so, im in need of some expert advice once again
in a 5x5ft tent
what is best lighting scenario
i have 2x600 watt LEDs bought allready, i might go buy an HPS 1200 /1000 watt or 2 x 600 watt HPS.

so, what is best suited for my 5x5
im going to be growing approx 16 plants in there in a wilma hydro dripper

thanks !!

what type of leds are those?

1000w hps would work well in a 5x5 with the proper hood, might need an air conditioner tho.

Just those leds alone wont cut it. Can be used with mh/hps. Maybe get a digital ballast that you can adjust to run 400, 600, & 1000 watt mh/hps. If temp is fine you can run 1000 or turn down and run the 600. Cmh cost more the hps/mh but is better. Cob leds is alot more up front but will save money in long run.

I have a friend who runs a 600 in a 5x5, but he treats it like a 4x4 with a little extra room inside to work around the tray. The added volume versus a 4x allows him to run it without AC, even here in SoCal. The only thing is that he occasionally has to dim it down when we get those brutal late summer, early fall heat waves.

Don't get it stuck in your head that you have 1200 watts of led. You have 600 watts.

I used to run an LED with my HPS but I switched to a second HPS... I used to grow in a 5 x 5 tent with only a 600 watt HPS... I could've used a little more light... As for the choice between 600 watts and 1000 watts... (I now use both sizes.) The 1000 watt makes low-lying flowers significantly bulkier than 600w but it throws off crazy heat. (I put mine on a light mover to eliminate the need for A/C but that doesn't work for a tent.) If you run SOGs or SCROGs you'll be better off with the 600 watt HPS... 1000 watt lights trees nicely but it is probably overkill considering your 5 x 5 tent and existing lights... If you already have 600 watts of LED lights, a 600 watt HPS would probably be enough and you could probably avoid an A/C... Best of luck!

This is SunPlix 630W DE CMH grow light, reflector size 21"x21"x5". A perfect fit for 5x5 tent, Outperform a 1000W HPS with way less heat.

I have a 5x5x7 grow tent also i run 2 600watt mars hydro full spectrums it more than enough i went from 1000watt full spectrum HPS due to power issues also. Here is the trick tho during seedling stage run 1 600watt at 24 " above top of plant. Then after you do your first transplant and start to veg flip them both on and lower them to 18 " keep that distance till during your 18/6 light schedule (24hr is not good for leds nor the plant in my experience ) then when u flip in to your 12/12 light schedule Bring therm up to 20 " till you cut em. ( think like this your seeding and veg time in real life is during spring and summer hot intense light sun is closer to the earth. Flower and harvest is when ? When it gets cooler and the sun is further from the earth less intense light more the led is your plants sun dude) works for me

thanks yoda. i seen this on ebay , is this the one you are using ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mars-Pro-II-Epistar-600W-LED-Grow-Light-Best-for-Hydro-Planting-Veg-Flower-270W/252839549934?epid=719128919&hash=item3ade695bee:g:rgcAAOSwAHBaGUxf ) and if so why did you go with these ?

i am in UK and i only would go with LEDs in UK summertime to keep temps down, so should i maybe buy 2 of these coming into summertime in UK . i just sent my 2 x 600 LED viparspectre back yesterday as the more i read about them the more negitive feedback i got about them so did not want take a chance and start grow only to be let down in flowering stage by the LED

He has what it pulls from the wall. If he has an actual 1200W from the wall he has plenty of light.

I light the same square footage extremely well with just 900W of COB LED.

Yes, he's allowed- and he's right that the light he's suggesting would work in the space. Personally, I'd prefer 3x315W for best effect. The killer setup would be 4x315W in a 6x6 space.

Heat issues in a tent with a DE CMH at that wattage?
I might be more inclined for an open area grow with more then 8 ft of ceiling height.....10 would be minimum, I would think....

Led is not measured by watts. When they say 600watt led its only to reference the comparative light out put. The 1000watt full spectrum HPS light i was running pulled 1000watts from the wall + the watts needed to run the ballast (150watts) + 1400btu a.c. unit + the inline cooling fan + the two small fans to move the air around = to much fucking money .. so i pulled it out did a lot of studying and came up that leds are the way I'm going. I got two mars hydro full spectrum 600watt leds out put is compared to a 600watt HPS but with way more UV-B (red light you need to promote photosynthesis) 1 600watt pulls 260watts from the wall so thats 520watts on lights yea they do run a bit hot but but not even close to what a thousand watt HPS light would put out so I removed the 1400 BTU AC unit catch the inline fan and my carbon scrubber just two exhaust and my two fans for air movement that saved me so much money on electricity and kept me lower under the radar

No but those are good just newer and different light angles. Im using the mars hydro full spectrum. The 1st model the one u listed is the mars 2 pro but if u can get those or the ones I'm using here is a bit of advice get some sun glasses no BS. The UV-B is hard on your eyes every thing will be green for a while if u dont.

And for the record im not saying LED is better or is not better than HPS im saying it is better in the consumption of power compared to out put. But i will say this LED is scientifically designed to put out the UV spectrum that plants need and thrive in. They work for me do the research and come up with your own opinion I would say if you are a small casual tent grower LED maybe a viable option due to the power consumption heat output and color spectrum
