In your experience, how long does sativa dominant strain take to flower once you flip to 12/12?

Hello,

I'm growing GDP which from what I've read is supposed to be an 8-9 week flower. These plants are definitely more sativa looking. I'm finishing up week 4 of 12/12 with a couple plants still with only pre-flowers. And growing huge!

Is this normal? What is your personal experience?

Thanks for reading this!

Yea it could depend on how much power/lighting you are using.. It could be from 8-9 weeks like they said or it can be from 11-13 weeks if you are using low wattage

i live in Hawaii and currently our days have 12 hours of light, so that's my 12/12 :-) I've never grown sativa dominant before so I'm not sure what to expect :-) but I guess I will find out in time!

Ahh you lucky dogg livin in hawaii...but yea indaca's usually on average take 7-10 weeks to finish and sativas take anywere from 9-13..soo i would just pay attention to the pistols changing color you want at least 60% to be orange or red, and the also if you have a jewlers microscope look at the trichomes(crystals on the bud) you want almost all of them to be a milky color and about 30-40 percent of them to be a amber color before you give it the chop

Bro have plenty of patience and let them go as long as needed. If they are just showing preflowers at week 4 you could have another 9 weeks to go.

I grow sativa dominant strains indoors and they range from 8-9 weeks to 12-13 depending on strain, phenotype and culture. Patience pays off.

Holy shit! Wow. Well, this will be interesting! I'm excited to grow something different! There is so much to learn and I'm constantly amazed at Mother Nature! Thank you both (green thumb 115 as well) for your input. It is much appreciated!

If you popped from seeds....you could get very sativa phenos that run longer.....

Another thing to remember is that many seed breeders reports are 1-3 weeks off.......Many of them do not start to count weeks till the flower sites are set after the "flip"...

Interesting! Yes all of my grows so far have been from seed because I'm cheap and like to breed so I don't have to buy seeds again :-)

I've also only grown autos and indica dominant. I actually left on a trip and popped my seeds based on when I'd have to be back to take care of them at the end of their life cycle! But wow this sativa thing sure put a monkey wrench in that!
