Hi RIU. New here...aka Orbo
What started as an interest in CO2 generation turned into something that I'm not even sure I totally understand yet.....and has now got me thinking - How cool would it be to turn this hobby grow into a semi-symbiotic relationship with my likkir projects?
So here goes, I have a little garage project where I make a little spirits from time to time and this requires a fermentation process for which I have several 5 gallon carboys I use. I am thinking that I could wrap the carboys in dark fabric (keep the lights down on the yeasties(debatable)) and let them cook off in the grow tent. The amt of CO2 that comes off 15 gallons of fermenting rye is actually quite considerable. I believe this could be a good source of CO2 - tests forthcoming.
This is where things get interesting - I did some looking on this site to see if I could find any examples of anyone trying this and much to my dismay it doesn't seem as though it has gotten any traction - maybe because its complete BS. I skimmed a couple articles on the use of Ethanol as a foliar on plants and I believe there may be an opportunity to increase yields. But before I go dumping this on the ladies I wanted to see if I could drum up some lively conversation and debate here first. Considering Cannabis is a C3 plant (or C4 depending on environment ) these studies can be considered relevant. I believe there are many many studies on the use methanol/ethanol on C3 plants but here are just a couple;
Effects of foliar and root applications of methanol or ethanol on the growth of tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill)

PLANT PERFORMANCE AND WATER USE OF METHANOL TREATED PEPPERMINT

So to summarize;
Yeast makes CO2 and feeds plants during flower
Orbo make ethanol from CO2 generation byproduct
Small amount of Ethanol feeds plants during veg
and finally Orbo uses remaining Ethanol and cured lady friends to get thoroughly drunk and stoned!!!
