Has anyone had experience with growing plants in a soil bed similar to a flood table, but soil? Was just a thought I had. Any input is welcome.

if you want them all to be same quality, and not have some plants steal from the others, just make separators within the bed... the major pain in the ass with a bed of soil, is movement... getting it in and out of the grow space is a bitch in a half. highly not advisable if you dont have enough room in the grow area to tend to plants within, without having to move them. but hell if you got the space, and don't have to move it except at harvest, go for it... just buy a huge rubbermaid, get some peices of plastic, a heat pen (cheap as hell) plug it in, make however many separator welds drill some holes for drainage, dump in soil and bam...

take for instance (I have a double planted trash bag plants) 2 plants, one bag. The one is great, other one is puny because the other plant is dominant. Hence the separation...

Good information. I was thinking about the dominance issues. However, the separators would defeat the purpose for my idea. I was thinking of incorporating a "no-till" approach. In a bed about 3'X3' and 1-2 ft deep.

Just an idea... I'm happy with my current sog in 1gal pots, was just brainstorming ideas. Now that I think about it, I could probably fit more plants in my area using my pots than I could with that bed. Over crowding might be a big issue with feeding...
