Induction question.

Hi all, I'm looking for some info about the quality of induction bulbs and is there any difference between industrial lights and hydro lights,
i was accidentally traumatized by this thread while trying to glean some info,

I'm a fan of the inda-gro lights after finding the site some years ago and then following a great grow journal on this site.

The problem I'm having is my location, Australia, and the shipping costs involved. i can however source low bay industrial induction lights locally and by all appearances seem very similar,
maybe even just buy a globe from inda-gro and fit it to a local ballast, i think that might be pushing my luck.

any info anybody could offer would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Skip half that thread. There were some fakes in there that worked for I grow. But there has been good results with inda gro and riant. Scarhole , chazbolin, spuagro and splifferous grows are legit. So check their posts n threads.

I kind of want to try the Riant induction. With the warm white spectrum(c). But that will be down the line if I do. I would do.a side tent just in case it didn't work out. They are half the price of inda gro.


With pontoons. Id say diy red leds would be better.


With industrial I can't really say. Im sure they have high par. But probably lacking in the deep red. By adding some diy deep red led pontoons I think you would be fine with those .

I bought 3 standard 120 watt 5000k induction lamps and use them to veg then add 216 watts of equal 630nm and 660nm T5 HO for flower and get very good results.UVL makes a lamp thats mostly 660nm and another thats mostly 630nm.I'm sure you could do the same with supplementing with red LEDS.I do 4 plants with this and get very dense and frosty buds with this DIY.Heres the lamp I got.

Yeah a 5000k high bay induction light will do fine.........add some 660nm leds for more :leaf:

Thanks for the responses, I spoke to a local company who was talking about the same thing, industrial lights are whiter.
it was only about $100 cheaper than importing from inda-grow so I guess I'll just save for a bit longer.

I don't care what anyone tells you, but induction lights are simply high wattage fluorescents. They will grow cannabis as well as any other fluorescent technology. Their only real benefit over other technologies are their longevity.

Where do you get the 660uvl lamps?

but in essence you speak truly.

can you get the same light quality from a normal fluro??
truth be told I've never looked into them in depth.

With aquarium t5 bulbs you can get better results than hps. 8 bulb t5 will match or even beat a 1000w in gpw. I know thr from my own side by side. But t5 aq bulbs don't even last a year. So they get pricey.$15 - $30 per bulb. The induction bulbs are much thicker in diameter. So they can hold more phosophors and argons etc.... So by that have more intensity. So even though induction is linear light, it has almost the same intensity as a single point of light.

In the end its all about spectrum and par. Umole/s / watt and distance.

I'm currently using 2 or 3 400w hps depending on the time of the growth. I was hoping to replace one with a 400w induction light and use two of the 400 hps lights round the edges, almost as verticals.
After much research a plasma light is my only variable but as I'm a stealth grower the noise factor is a major selling point. 3 old ballasts are not stealth. Dunno about the fluro's, sounds like trouble.

T5 and induction are silent. T5 bulbs dont last as long as they should. 1 8 bulb covers a 2x4. 432 watts.
Induction bulbs last 10 years. .. Inda gro's have a 10 year warranty. All other induction companies have a 5 year warranty. Leds will make more noise than induction due to fans. high end leds are not that loud though. A 400w or 420w induction will match a 600. Cover a 4x4

I do not agree that 400 or 420 induction watts will out produce a 600. Not enough energy and that way more so than spectrum is what drives production. As a matter of fact the more i study and see actual grows it really is looking like the specific spectrum outlook has little resl world merit. Looks good on paper but hps production and even potency really blows the spectrum is king school of thought with its horrid spectrum. Not attempting to kick off anything but just staing an alternative view that is mathematically accurate and substantial.

And if you look at unbiased results, you are correct. In the end all induction wins on is longevity. I've followed a few unbiased grows with induction out there, the results are nice, but you still don't beat a 600w HPS with a 400w induction.

I'm digging cmh 330 all starts. Just as efficient as led and has the Uv that induction has. High par and deep red too. But I also like my t5. I just wish they ran less watts without losing spectral output. You can customize your own spectrum. Change it up at any time. Those coral wave bulbs mixed with 5000 k or flora suns and redsuns. Make plants take off like crazy. Start flowering by day 7. Ive always been intrigued by induction. I wouldn't spend the money on an inda gro. I would go with riant or the ones at best in green solutions. If you order from best in green Online. Call afterwards to double check order. I got a couple 120 w and a 300 w. But the ones they sent me only ran on a 240 volt. I can only use a 120 where I'm at. They did refund me right away. Then I never got new ones. So didn't get to try them.

But by the time you look at price difference 5 cmh bulbs last as long or longer and for the price difference are still cheaper.
