Ingenious idea or fail? Adding a CFL with my 400 HPS light...

Check out this pic:

I currently have a 400 HPS and 5 plants...and there is a hole in the middle because of the way I arrange my plants. I was thinking of using this wasted space to put a decent size CFL there to give it some extra light to the lower nodes. The bulb would be facing up from the floor, and making sure that there will be no fire hazards. Good idea? Or is mixxing different types of lights bad? Let me know guys

Mixing lights is not a problem but the bottoms of the leaves do not pick up light like the tops do so it might not help much.

I plan to elevate the light so that its in the middle of the plants...not too low and not too high.

You'd need a big cfl, like 100w actual to really make a big difference. It would be a great idea, but the damn things are as expensive as buying another little hps or halide in the center vertically mounted.

You could stuff a 70-150w halide there and get the real results you want cheaper if you mod a security light and stick just the bulb on a short telescopic pole.
