Looking for these little computer fan things. Need the ones that have a plug you put in the wall. Don't wanna mess with wires. Does anyone know where I could get them around town. I've seen them online for around 20 bucks but I hope I can snag them for cheaper. Anyone know where I could get them? Wal Mart? Lowes? Etc.

Dude,
just get some computer fans, some shrink tubing, and a couple of old cell phone chargers. You can get them at a goodwill store for less than a dollar usually. After that, cut and strip the wires. Run black to the purely black wire. This is your negative-, and run red (or white) to the black wire with white line or the writing (on the charger)The positive+. splice them, use shrink tubing and thats all she wrote. Its super easy and cheap as hell. I honestly don't think you are going to find a computer fan with a wall plug already built on. They aren't made to plug in like that, or at least I have never heard of that before.

The only ones that I've seen that are identical in style to the PC fans you're talking about, are at Radio Shack. They have 2 or 3 that run off regular household 120V. They work really well, pretty quite. More power than the PC fans. they run about 20 bucks.

But as dnkronic demonstrated, the PC fans aren't hard to rewire with a cell phone charger or other transformer.

I just bought two little computer fans and they have three wires coming out (red, black, white). Could someone tell me (simply) what i'm supposed to do to get them to plug into a wall socket? Is a cell phone charger the only thing that can be used?

I would use a cellphone charger for sure. They are inexpensive, and are rated for very similar output that the computer fans require. If you rig up the fans to a cord that doesnt have a transformer, they will burn out the fans, and possibly electrocute you. Too much wattage without a transformer. Seriously. I have seen cell phone wall chargers at dollar stores. they are worth the time to find. Like I said before, goodwill or thrift stores always have them for about a dollar. go get some!!!!!

Thanks, but I found a 12v dc output wall plug and used that. Plus I found the DIY computer fan wiring thread which really helped. It works great! Can't hear anything outside my closet.
