Intersting thought, Car HID's for light

I was just thinking about car HID kits on the market today, and you can get some pretty decent deals on them,

HID Xenon Kits, HID Bulbs, HID Accessories

For example the top model, with the options I want It's showing $85 (55 watts, 5000 lumens per bulb, 6000k). That gives you 2 bulbs all you have to do is supply the input voltage, they come with their own ballasts. Just having 2 of these in a grow room seems like they would be pretty efficient....dunno just a thought.

you would have to come up with a way to convert power to them and
intergate them into a shield, probibly better to spent the money and
get the real thing.

from what I've seen, most of the ballasts run off a range, they will run between 9 and 32 volts, taking up only 3.3amps in the process. A computer powersupply can supply 12volts with plenty of amperage to go around. cooling would be easy, a homemade cooltube if nothing else.

interesting a computer power supply, I think it would work.
