Introducing my first grow - CFL- Her name is Edna

What's goin on guys. New to rollitup so I just wanted you guys to meet my first seed & first sprout ever, Edna :weed: She's about a week & a half old. This is my test run before I move on to having a couple plants at the same time. I used bag seed, I'll buy some dank seeds next time. I wanna smoke my harvest this time around to see if it's good enough to let my friends have some. $$$. I've had her under one 26w 6500k cfl but i'll probably get another one today to have 52w on her. I also have 88w of 2700k's waiting for her during flowering. Do you guys think this should be fine for one plant or should I up the wattage?

Oh and she's gonna be in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil for the entirety of her life. I'll be transplanting her into a 1 gallon smart pot soon, maybe today.

Hey Henry! Things are looking good bro, and yea you want to get that light on here ASAP. The song gives all colors of light, so adding it is still going to be beneficial. Also, even when you are flowering you don't need to take away the others. Its only beneficial if you have say 4 plugs, and 4 lights of 2700K and 4 lights of 6500K (that you switch between). If you can throw all the light at the plant at once, you will be much happier with the results.

Also, don't underrate your bag-seed. Much bag-seed these days are derived from decent phenos of the named strains, especially if it came off some dank bud. Just see what you get, if you aren't impressed then maybe spend some money on better seeds. Also, have you thought about any LST to increase yield and keep her smaller?

I'm subbed up and along for the ride! :)

Thanks man! I got a couple Y splitters today so i got three 2700k bulbs (one 42w & two 23w), & one 26 w 5000k, giving her light now. & Yeahh i've been reading up on LST. That's the training method i thought was best for me. Gonna watch a couple videos and see what the best way is. My buddy who grows told me it looks indica dominant so that's good cuz that's what i was hoping for. Here's a pic from today, just cuz i think she's beautiful lol Oh & i got some seeds of some really fire bud I smoked yesterday so those are my future daughtersss

At the risk of repeating everyone else... more light! See how far apart your nodes are, you need to square that away ASAP!

I shall buy a couple more 42w's today!!

Anybody got any ideas on what i could use to LST? Hooks, strings? what would be the easiest way..

Hey Henry. What I use for my LST works pretty dang well, and is easy + cheap. Go to Walmart and buy a 10 pack of black metal hangers ($1-2 for 10). Once you have them, get big wire cutters and cut them right before the bend horizontally for the hook. Take this, and push it down to the straight part, then cut at = length. Bend this into any hook shape you want, and use this to stake the plant down. The pictures on my thread show kinda how to use them. Hope this helped, and your baby is looking good. She is stretching for light though that is for sure.

The stretching you see in the plant happened when my girlfriend's mom came to stay with us for a few days. I live in a college town so I didn't have any place indoors to put it where she wouldn't see it. So i was forced to put it outside. I was sure it could do well on my front lawn, hidden amidst my basil & purple basil plants, & I believed it would do great in this florida weather.. What ensued was a couple of rainstorms i couldn't save my plant from :( ... Some of the leaves have tiny tears on them from the storms. But yeah, when I brought my baby back inside when my gf's mom left i saw that it had stretched quite a bit.

Extraneous variables, they'll getcha everytime -_-

In other news, I did some LST on her to get light to the new growth

Nice LST, I would pull it even closer to the pot though. You will regret not pulling her all the way down if you don't, as they really do grow and grow. Also, I recommend transplanting into your final pot before you begin to hardcore LST, as the more you LST the harder transplants will be + more stress it will cause. I know the exact rainstorms you are talking about, in the same general area. Bitches almost took out my clones, and put the hurt on some of my pepper plants. I bet I know what school you go too! :P

Haha. I bet you could narrow it down to about 3 schools. Planning on taking a botany class next semester to better understand how to take care of my plants whether they be cannabis, or vegetables to eat AFTER I smoke my cannabis  lol

But yeah man, The hydro store i go to recently restocked their 2 & 3 gallon smart pots so I'll be grabbing a couple as soon as i can get over there. Could i be fine with just getting 2 gallon pots?.. or would a 3 gallon be optimal? I really wanna control its height, so I'll probably just get a 3 gallon and LST that mother good.

So after the LST'ing the new growth has really taken off & i'm loving every centimeter of it. I also topped it. I made a rookie mistake & dropped the lights on part of the plant & noticed a while later. Thank God it didn't burn it too bad. Just a couple burns at the top. Anyways, here she is just 3 days after LST.

It feels like the days go by so damn slow now that i'm growing.. She can't grow fast enough!

So after 3 weeks, I FINALLY have a setup I'm happy with. I have 80w's of CFLs on top and 55w's on the sides of her, for a total of 135w's of 2700k's. I transplanted her into her final 2 gallon smart pot so I predict a growth spurt pretty soon. & I also did some more LST. Now i'm just waiting for her to sex..

Make sure to mix up bulbs during flower.
It's advised to have about 1 6500k per 2-3 2700k's.
This helps the plant remain bushy, as 2700's usually induce much stretch that is not needed.

Looks good, if you ever need to reshape her, send me a PM.
I'll help you plan out a way to get any shape plant you need.
