Canadian financial regulators have issued a rare investor alert warning about the risks of buying stock in companies who want to jump into the medical marijuana sector.
The CSA issued a statement Monday “urging investors to be cautious when considering investing in medical marijuana stocks.”

Good news for companies already licensed, as this warning is issued for all those companies saying they're "pre-approved" or just putting in an application etc, they have a loooooong road ahead before they'll be producing, if at all.

the whole application process is fucked..i have spoken to a couple wannabe lp's that have gotten the go ahead to build..but thats still not a guarantee they will even get licensed. youre gonna spend potentially a couple hundred grand on building (if not more)...with no promise of ever being able to be a business? thats fucking insane.

There are risks to starting a business in any market. With the way things have been going thus far, I'd avoid the program like the plague. That includes patients and potential investors or wanna be LP's. If they do their research and STILL decide to apply then they will get no sympathy from anyone.

i agree. i know there are risks anywhere, no matter what.. but holy shit eh
