I would say that Iran def. sees it coming.. hence why they've stated warnings of retaliation... this type of military set up doesn't happen over night.. def. has been in the works for a while..

Iran president paves the way for Arabs' Imam return

His call for the destruction of Israel may have grabbed headlines abroad, but it is President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's devotion to a mystical religious figure that is arousing greater interest inside Iran.

In a keynote speech on Wednesday to senior clerics, Ahmadinejad spoke of his strong belief in the second coming of Shi'ite Muslims' "hidden" 12th Imam.

According to Shi'ite Muslim teaching, Abul-Qassem Mohammad, the 12th leader whom Shi'ites consider descended from the Prophet Mohammed, disappeared in 941 but will return at the end of time to lead an era of Islamic justice.

"Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi," Ahmadinejad said in the speech to Friday Prayers leaders from across the country.

"Therefore, Iran should become a powerful, developed and model Islamic society."

"Today, we should define our economic, cultural and political policies based on the policy of Imam Mahdi's return. We should avoid copying the West's policies and systems," he added, newspapers and local news agencies reported.

Ahmadinejad refers to the return of the 12th Imam, also known as the Mahdi, in almost all his major speeches since he took office in August.

I don't think Iran has nukes. They're missing key components and have repeatedly offered to show the nuclear technology they're working on (which is for energy use). However.. China and Russia both get most of their oil supply from Iran- fucking around with their oil supply won't make them happy.. Russia already is having problems with us over the Georgia conflict...Iran has big friends with nukes..that should be the concern..

I am sick of this shyt though- who the fuck are we to tell other countries what technology they can and can't explore. With the energy crisis ensuing as it is right now any country looking for other viable cheaper and renewable alternatives should be commended- NOT THREATENED.

Exactly! Just who in the fuck do we think we are. We are acting like some redneck cowboy in an ass whipping contest. "Don't try that shit or I'll slap the piss out of you", retarded. The rest of the world sees us for what we really are, ignorant redneck bullies.

i just watched Bush's speech about the Russian, Georgian conflict. he basically stated that if Russia doesn't ceasefire, there will be consequences.

it looks like Russia is moving troops towards Iran. like preparation for an all out war in Iran against USA/Georgia/European Union. Georgia was the only way to get military into Iran.

The threat seems counter productive though, we are buddy buddy with georgia trying to get them into nato etc, so now we are pissed at russia? who is going to help us attack Iran? I don't get it. Maybe I am just too high.

Edit: wait I think I see it, you are saying russia is going to defend Iran against us. I fucking hope they do, with china. I hope they get Israel while they are there.

Well, for the record... it's not ONLY the United States that doesn't want Iran to have Nuclear weapons.... it's pretty much the whole world that doesn't want them to.

It is in the interest of mankind on planet earth for the world to police who can and can't have nuclear weapons. Countries like North Korea and Iran should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons... and the whole world knows it.

I don't believe for one second that Iran's intent is for Nuclear energy. They want to build Nuclear weapons.... and the world is RIGHT to attempt to stop them.

Honestly I don't know why you continue to live in a Country you have such disdain for

at this point i don't even know what to think or do. it feels like we've been chased into a cage and can't escape...

i just pray to God that a nuclear holocaust doesn't come from this. good thing is though, our country probably won't be bothered domestically. but just to be on the safe side, we should all prepare for the worst.

Ironic that the only country that used nukes is so concerned about this:-|

The US is NOT the ONLY Country concerned about it. The Countries of the UN and the EU all are "concerned" about it as well ;)

BTW.... I'm pretty certain any nuclear bomb today would make "Fat Man" & "Little Boy" look like sparklers on the 4th of July.

We don't trust friends.... PEOPLE WE KNOW.... with knowing about our 4 or 5 plants growing in the closet.... but we should just "trust" that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (sitting on top of more oil then he knows what to do with) wants to develop nuclear technology solely for energy...... ROFL... Give me a break! Come on people!!!!

Russia and China are very friendly with Iran though, so it is a very dangerous situation, totally unlike Iraq.

This crap with Bush telling Russia to back down immediately is crazy. Do I agree fully with Russia pushing beyond the disputed territory in Georgia? No. But there were certainly right to RETALIATE when Georgian forces attacked South Ossetian killing nearly 2,000 citizens. This whitewash in the U.S. media is bullshit. Georgia attacked South Ossetian (who fought and won their sovereign independence from Georgia in the 90's). Over 50% of the citizens of S. Ossetian have Russia passports and want to be a part of Russia. Russia was obligated to defend the citizens of S. Ossetian due to a treaty with the citizens. Russia retaliated and now Georgia is bitching and our leadership is ranting about how Russia is threatening Georgia's democracy.. maybe Georgia should have had some respect for democracy as a principle in the first place- when the citizens of S. Ossetian democratically choose independence from Georgia. The U.S. has trained the Georgia army and is now transporting Georgian military forces from Iraq to Georgia.. and threatening Russia.. this is NOT GOOD.

It's been proven time and time again Iran is no where near nuculear bomb capacity. They have multiple times offered to show everything. MOST of the world isn't trying to make sure Iran doesn't have ANY nuclear technology- Israel, Britain, and the U.S. Those are the countries spearheading this 'stop everything now' crap.

I honestly would like to know where the hell it says in our Constitution that we should police the world and tell other nations how to handle their own business. Certainly we do not allow anyone to tell us how to run things.

I dunno about you- but I believe in FREEDOM. And in order to have freedom first and foremost you must be able to respect others right to freedom as well.

The simple belief that 'they seem bad and I don't think that's their real intentions' is childish and dangerous behavior. Through history we have called those.. witch hunts..
