Iris and Sadie

No it's more because there is no replacement for natural sunlight. I wanted to grow them outside but we're already past the solstice so the days are shortening and I'm trying to give them a good 15 to 16 hours of light a day. Once the weather gets cold later in the year they'll be on just cfl's.

Not to mention Lucinda started outside planted in the ground and then spider mites attacked her, so I dug her up and put her in a pot and flushed her with soapy water a few times, them flushed her with regular water to get rid of the soap. After all that shit, I ended up taking her out of that soil and rinsing the roots and putting her in new soil. then I stuck her over by my herb garden, it was Darwinism time. She pulled through.

Now nobody freak out about this root rinsing thing. I've been doing it with my house plants for 20 years and they always grow so much better after a root rinse and repot in fresh soil. Lucinda seems to be responding well to it too.

They may look dry in the pics, but it's moist under the top layer of dirt. I took the pics before I brought them in the other day.

So am I the only one that drags them in and out? I figured surely other people did it too.

Once they get big it's gonna be a pain. I have... oh my, how many plants do I have going now..? 10+8+5=23.. ok, just under two dozen. There is no way my back can take moving 3-4gal. pots in and out every God damned day.

Well of course, I wouldn't do that either. But I just have the 4 and they're little so it's no biggie. I just figure by the time they get too big to haul outside the weather will also be too cold .

Iris and Sadie are 2 weeks old now.

Flotsom is 1 week old

Lucinda is a mystery, maybe a month, she had issues but amazingly is still alive .

They didn't get to go outside today, so their leaves look curled down. Tomorrow I'll get some pics before they come in when the leaves are pointing up at the sun. I just watered them today, that's why they look so damp.

Yes, inDEED. I am. Remember, I've killed something like 13 in the past month or so (heat and burned their roots). I'm a horrible mother.

I gave them like the tiniest drop of superthrive in their water. Then for Lucinda I added just a few crumbs of Miracle grow. Baby steps. These are my first kids and I'm amazed that we've come this far !

Superthrive is not a fertilizer, it won't feed them. Miracle Gro mixed "soft" (like quarter strength) should do it for them. Yes, baby steps for your babies.

I'm using the superthrive to try and bush them up since I started them late. I've seen a couple of posts on here where people (can't remember names) have used it and their plants look great. I'm using it on my corn and houseplants too now.

So do you think the 3 babies are ready for some miracle grow? Iris and Sadie are only 2 weeks old and Flotsom is only a week old. I was afraid of burning them.

Oh! They're that young? Why, I could have sworn they were already in kindergarten. No sooner than three weeks, usually, but I see a lot of yellowing that shouldn't be there just yet. Super mild dose, OR, better still if you can find it, make a mild tea of worm castings or guano, or even blood meal (1T/gal, let set for about a week, blood meal tea smells funky). Then there's fish emulsion, mixed mild, again, as in a half or quarter dose.. come to think of it, that would probably be easiest to find and your best bet. The smell goes away. Eventually.

Yes I've been noticing that yellowing myself and have been a little concerned about it. Today they are looking a little greener, maybe the superthrive is helping aout a little. I'm going to take new pics before I bring them in tonight. The difference in them after a day in the sun is amazing.

Here they are after being in the sun outside from 10 to 5 today.

Notice how much better they look. Lucinda is looking really good today. The real sun makes their leaves point up really nice toward the sun.

I went for a ride to the high country today. The high Sierra is so beautiful. Then I got stuck behind these three Harley riders, they didn't know how to ride the twisties, poor old guys. Should have seen their faces when we finally hit Sly Park and they saw that the guy on their asses was a woman.

Lucinda is looking better. So you think FLotsom is a winner? I've kind of had my eye on Sadie from the start. Well maybe I'll get lucky and they'll all be great.


I love that look men get, was that a girl? Makes me laugh everytime. I love to ride, but I haven't have mine out all week, it's running shitty and pissing me off. Maybe this weekend I'll ride.

Not just men, little kids. They're my favorite.

Little boys always wave, so I wave back and smile. I always wave at little girls too. They always have huge eyes, "look mommy I wanna do that too" lol.

start feeding them superthirive now 1 drop for 2 gallons to start off then after a little bit do 1 drop for 1 gallon of water

They're getting a weak dose of superthrive, and Lucinda is getting Miracle grow too. I know the feelings on Miracle grow here, either you love it or you hate it. I've sworn by it for years for growing everything else so I've going to give this a shot with miracle grow. If it doesn't turn out I'll know better next time.

The thing with MG is that it's easy to burn the plants. Go light (lighter than recommended dosing, in my humble opinion), and you won't burn them.
