Is 11 hours light during flower better than 12?

I was wondering if 11 hours of flowering is better than 12 hours in that it starts quicker/finishes sooner and produces just as much?

if you want to finish quicker veg at 24/0 that'll probably get your harvest time a week sooner. I can't comment on the 11/12 as I've never done it, I've gone the other way though 14/10 to get extra bud weight.

IDK why everyone wants to REDUCE light. What you want is the maximum hrs of light while still maintaining the 'critical dark' time to maintain flowering.

Of course, you need to work with a particular strain for a bit to find the 'critical dark' period.

This is why I asked. I was hoping to get an answer and didn't mean to expect it one way or the other. If more hours gives me more yield without affecting completion time too much I'm happy with that as well. How much extra weight has been noticed with increased light periods, 5%, 10%, more?

I have no way of knowing as I have nothing to compare it against. I would think the percentage would be proportional to the percentage of extra hours of light though.

There is a lot wrong with not doing at least a fair amount of documenting changes. Say raising the light time increases maturing by just two weeks, that would greatly reduce the overall yields from a years worth of growth. If you have a turnaround time of 11 weeks with a 12/12 cycle (3 weeks veg, 8 weeks flower), and a 14/10 increases that to 13 weeks, well that's a huge difference (even just 1 week more is not worth it). A 10% increase of individual yields is not going to make up for almost a full grow cycle lost (5 harvests compared to just 4.3) plus the additional cost of light time. As usual, the devil is in the details. If I can drop a week off maturing time by dropping to a 11/13 and lose only 5% that would be well worth it!

Ive shot from the hip this last grow and manually put out the lights at different times each evening - always, however, maintaining more dark hours than light hours - for instance, sometimes 12/12, sometimes 13/14, sometimes 11/12... stalks didnt get confused, still have bulk

Oh, no, he is not on trial. But I wanted real info, not some worthless babble that has no subjective data to back it up. Jeesh, go smoke a joint and "chill".

How can you possibly have 13/14 ?

I already stated, I don't know what difference it made, there was no side by side comparisons. I just wanted to see if it could be done without reveging. Comon sense will tell you that you'll get more weight from more light hours.

i think that is a bold statement and untrue, imo.

lol 13/14 and 11/12

but seriously.. more light = more growth, the plant just needs enough darkness to put it into flowering. 12/12 is like a fail safe if you don't know what the exact time is for your plant.

opinions are like assholes everyone's got one, some of them stink.
kinda shocked that you are that naive.
Hey im no scientist , and my reasoning is this , keeping it brief
Plants during light cycle are soaking up and storing the light etc,
Plants during dark cycle , put what they stored to use and grow/produce
12 hours storing / 12 hours building ,
Each strain has its own flower period to reach full maturity ,
this is why i thought your statement was Bold,
Don't be shocked ,
Naive
or
just trying to learn ?
that in itself is an opinion.......
