Is a 135W LED overkill for 3 sq ft / 7 cubic feet?

I'm really really interested in trying this amazing deal: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/135w-UFO-LED-Grow-Light-Full-spectrum-3W-Flower-LEDs-Hydroponic-grow-lamp-panel-/280994073556?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416c8d4bd4#ht_7195wt_1271

$114 total for a 135w light, 100% feedback, and pretty fast shipping considering it's in China. Their sales pitch has sold me. Now, keep in mind that pretty much all LEDs are made in China, so let's avoid stereotypes about Chinese quality.

Only problem is it may be too bright! My grow tent is only 18 x 22 x 30 inches, which has 3 square ft and is 7 cubic feet total.

The claims of 135w lights being equivalent to 400w HIDs are almost certainly overblown, but it still seems near the danger zone.

I'm using a SCROG in my tent, which should be relevant.

I'd love to buy this and make a thread where I test it, but if it's likely to bleach my plants or just be a waste because I have to keep it too far away I may as well get a 90w LED UFO.

Never too much light IMO. Bleaching happens because the light is too close not because of the wattage. Keeping that light 8-10" away will eliminate bleaching.

There is quite a difference in led lighting in cost, quality and effectiveness. Don't be fooled by the sales pitch, comparing it to a 400w hid is a joke. You will be lucky if it can perform like a 150w hps.

With the right spectrum Im sure you will gro some dank product with them chinese lights, just hope they last a full crop.

Good Luck

But at a point there will be greatly diminishing returns. You wouldn't use a 600w hps cooltube in a 3x1 tent, would you?

It's got Zeners which means you will pay more to run it than a comparable UFO without, plus it's not a good size for your grow area. You'd be better off spending the money on LED lightbulbs. Plus you're in Canada, right? Look into a Vipar A100 which is a good fit for your area. Good Luck.
