is a 15 gallon smart pot too big for an indoor indica grow?

trying to master my approach down to near perfect, and as a wise person, i want to learn from people who have experience with smart pots instead of trial and error.

inform (some but not all, just the important)
1000 Watt grow
15 gallon smart pots
indica seeds only
normal to large size bedroom (havent measured yet so the exact square footage is unknown for now)
want to grow 10 seeds in their own container

what kind of height would you expect with indicas in 15 gallon smart pot containers with no topping? i understand smart pot 15 gallon is actually the equivalent of 20 gallon regular container, but i dont know how it effects growth. please help and thank you.

Guess I'm a different kind of grower but I only use a 4" (prob a quart of soil) pot to grow in, whether they're sativa or indica, auto or photo. Takes a bit more care but I've been doing it for several seasons....yes, smaller yeilds but very manageable sizes ....I grow in a small tent under 400w hps, 6-8 strains at a time.....

Seems awfully big Ive seen 12ft grown out of 10gal outdoor greenhouse, Id go with 5gal.

unless your going for a 4 month+ of veg time thats is waaaaaay to big.

if you have the room for a bunch of massive plants then go for it. I would love to have 10 15gallon pots going at the same time. You might reconsider the topping though, or at the very least look into lst. You can always flip the switch and go to 12/12 earlier then you were expecting to keep the plant size down

do 5gal smart pots do 9 under the 1k watt veg till 24'' youll be happy

pot too large. i use 7 gallon pots and have nice big bountiful plants. 15 is way big unless you have unlimited space and time. keep in mind many strains don't grow too tall and will fill out .. the amt. of light is important. in ideal conditions they will get so big around you won't get in the door.
been growing 30 plus yrs.. never bigger than 7 gallon pots and usually 5 is the limit. . Many tines a 3 gallon grow bag is good enough.

would 15 gallon smart pots be of any benefit scrog'ing and vegging as long as neccessary to fill the screen? or still too big? I was thinking of doing this with Sannies Extrema. I haven't seen any post that are much to speak of in any forums that have done this with such a large pot. Just wondering if people have experience with large pots indoors or just know what can be done with the pots they have used in the past.

unless you have high ceilings i'd stay with a 5 gallon pot. you can do a 4 week veg and have a reasonable electric bill and turn your crop quicker than waiting to grow a 10' tree using a few kilowatts of power.

I use a 30 gal smart pot, and right now my gal keeps growing so much I don't think the ceiling is going to be high enough. I wasn't considering height to start, so if they too tall I may have to just light the sides of the plants.

It depends how long you're going to veg for really... If it were a Sativa then I would just lol and say "have fun with that" because they stretch like a hell.

If you do decide to do this, get a wide pot. Not a tall pot. If the pots tall the plant will get taller, you can go with a wide pot and the pot will be a bush. However its an over kill in my opinion, you can save yourself a lot of work by going with 7 gal and planting more plants.

You could veg a LOOoooooooooong time in that size. 5 seems to be my sweet spot for room turn over. Now for outdoor 15 is nice.

that's a good size pot, if it was me I would only grow one plant in that pot expect to veg it for 6 months under 1000 watt mh and use 1 or 2 1000 watt hps to flower one plant outher wise I think your throwing money away, 2 month veg 3 to 7 gallon pots exzactly the same yield, difference is bigger pots less watering, in this situation, I see 5 foot plants in 3 gallon smart pots, getting, average 4 to 14 ounces depend on strain, have to give it almost a gallon water a day. eather way its up to you , soil is expencive

It's a good idea. The caveat, for me, is that I veg. them outside during the summer, and in a tent during the winter so that by the time they get into the grow room, they're already pretty big.

I have a monster in a 30 gal. She only took about 7 weeks to go from her 3 Gallon home to really beginning to fill out the 30 gallons... And this is an indica dominant plant. Overall, expect a a 12 week veg. in 30-45 gallon pots when you're talking indica.

With Sativas, they grow faster and benefit from excess root space during flower, as they continue to extend their roots throughout their entire life cycle. So, veg. time for a Sativa dominant lady would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 weeks. But you would certainly have to train her because she would definitely get too tall.

I used a 15 outside and some 5 foot plants got root bound in that so idk you could use a 15 inside just veg for atleast 2 months.

How tall are your ceilings 15 ft tall or what. if its 10ft the pot is 2ft tall... so you got 6 feet of plant to grow as your lights will hang down1.5-2.5ft depending on what hoods etc. your 15 gal pots are completely over kill unless you literally intertwine it in the net for months to you a pot that big.

Don't think 10-15 gallon pots r over kill indoors. It's actually the best way to get huge yields with short veg times. 3.5-4 weeks of veg max. All vegging to be done in a 6 inch pot then transplanted into a 10-15 gallon pot for flower. 2-6 months worth of vegging is over kill. Just my opinion.

100 gal is not too big you can us any thing you want just make sure it fits you set up.

you should do 2 in 5 gallon or 3 in 3 gallon under your 400w.
