is a digital ballast worth it???

I know somone has some thoughts on this. Is a digital ballast worth it, I've always used a magnetic ballast, but now it's time to get a new set up and I was thinking about a 1000 watt digital ballast.

my questions are:

1. will it save me any money in electricity?
2. will it really prolong bulb life?
3. is it really silent?

my big question is on the energy consumption, if you have one would you let me know, will I see a difference?

I can only speak for a Lumatek and not sure bout the money as far as a month to month bill if it does it is jus a few bucs!! and YES they are quiter!! not sure bout the bulb life though!! they are more efficient!!

definitely quieter and also don't run as hot in general.

I have a Lumatek 600 W Digital & an Eurotech 600w Digital as back up, but never had to use it.
Lumateks come with a sweet warranty too 5 years i think. They run more efficiently than magnetic ballasts & ignite the bulb to full luminance far quicker too. Wether they save money is questionable, but they definitely deliver more lumens per watt & will even adjust their output to suit the life of your bulb. My Lumatek is silent ( as in i dont even hear it come on) & my Eurotech is fan cooled so when on you can hear the fan but its not loud.

Better Kit overall & far safer than magnetic.

Digital ballast are worth the money they run both mh and hps and they put out better light. I run the lumatek600 and just upgraded to the 1000 and I love them the are silent but they still get hot I keep a fan on them.

To me it's "New Technology" still.
I'm waiting until mostly everyone has one before I'm sold on them.

I just got rid of my cassette tapes a couple years ago.
