i work in the HVAC field. i do sheet metal ( ducting ) and pipe fitting ( copper, steel ect) i am 6 moths away from getting turned out and i cant find a job to save my life. i have been on over 20 interviews in the past 9 months and the last one i was on 2 weeks ago the HR person said " we have 30 people who turned in app's for the same job." Plus you have people who have worked in the field for 10 + years willing to take half the dollar amount then what they should be getting paid just so they have a job. Which is good but it almost shuts the door on the newer people in the field.

I was laid off this past Thursday after 4 years of work. I just moved from a home that was in foreclosure to top it off. My heart is in the gutter right now. I'm applying for unemployment but that just covers rent hopefully. Now I gotta step my game up and finally start growing.

Alot of people in the same boat... lost their job and now tyring to grow .....thats why the market is flooded and the prices and quality are dropping

I keep hearing the same stories ....I didnt know that growing weed was so much work or that you can fuck it up so easily

too true colonuggs. I am a teacher for our association and people are constantly amazed at how much work it all is. if they are physically able, before we help them build their room, we ask them to participate in a transplanting and harvest day at with a few other members. by the end of the day more than one person has scaled back their original plans, a couple people decided not to take on growing at all.

That is so true colonuggs, I hear so many people saying "it's just a weed, how hard can it be", and I just laugh and say go ahead and try it then.
That's why forums like this are such a blessing though I wish newcomers would try to answer their own questions more rather than posting redundant questions.

i just want to grow so i dont have to pay top dollar for an 1/8 from the collectives. when i was working making over 35 an hour spending 45-55-65$ on an 8th isnt so bad just 2 hours work to treat yourself all week long. but when you have 0 income it kinda has to lead you to do other things. heck if i was getting UI i would be happy but some how UI said i was getting paid to much so they took it away from me lol. i didnt lie about anything i did the phone interview and they told me how much i would get. 821$ every 2 weeks. So beats the hell out of me!

Growing is easy. The problem people have is trying to increase the size of their ops too quickly. PPL think that they can take their 6 plant grow in their back yard and apply the same system to a big commercial grow. Usually doesn't work out very well. The result is a lot of schwag.

I feel for you guys. I been looking at temp agencies and it is sad how little they pay. So much competition and so many people is making it hard. Yet corporate America is doing well. Don't worry people.

I've got a degree myself and cannot find work. I am looking at going to law school now, out in California. I want to get out of the Midwest and into a more friendly climate.

It's a terrible market. Over 10% UE. There aren't a lot of jobs available and the companies hiring have the pick, people with masters taking low level jobs... doesn't leave much room for lower level people to get in. If you can get someone with an advanced degree for the same amount of money, why hire someone less experienced? I personally think that is stupid thinking but that's how it is. I know I am better than the majority of people with more advanced degrees. I've been working iin the real world for 10 years while they were sitting around a classroom getting taught by some schmuck who's still teaching the technology of 10 years ago. Just my opinion. I don't look for work, I have a pretty stable clientele but I wouldn't recommend trying to move here and find work, unless you're willing to take a job at target & they drug test!

I'm trying to love there for school at this point. The fact that weed is semi legal is a nice little bonus but the state I am in (Illinois) is doing terrible. It is actually doing worse than California. It is ridiculous that the business I interests are more protected then the workers. Walmart firing long time employees and hiring 2 part timers is an example of the types of abuse that they can get away with. It happens all over and it should be punishable somehow.
