is it better to use a 400watt hps or alot of CFLs for a small grow box

I have a small grow box. I will be growing 3 afghan kush ryders autos in 2gallon smart pots with ocean forest soil. I was curious what be better to use to grow these. A 400 watt hps or alot of CFLs which I can get for cheap? I was thinking a small grow box and autos. Maybe a 400 watt hps would be overkill and too much heat? or would alot of CFLs be enough light for 3 plants but a waist of money. any help or comments would be great

what are the dimensions? what kind a scratch are you working with?

Id run three 1k watt hps lamps powered by your pet hampsters. Thats just me though

Polyarcturus- if you check the history of threads this man has started on light selection you would see your wasting your energy. I counted like 22 dif threads on the same question on the first 3 pages alone...
