Is it ready yet? Blue Widow, Vanilla Kush Headband +REP

Hey guys here are some pics of my Blue Widow. Day 47 of flowering. 15-20% of the hairs are orange. 15% of the Trics are amber... I started flushing today. Im using DWC bubbleponics in 5gal buckets. This lady vegged for 5+ weeks. Flushing with 010 ppm 5 stage RO water, no additives. The breeder (Dinafem) says 50-55 days to flower. I dont think im to close to harvest though, probably because of the good amount of veg time. This particular lady drinks canna nutrients per the chart. I wanted your opinion on how much longer till i should harvest? and if i started flushing at the right time?

These pics are pretty much only the Blue widow, but pic 2 is Vanilla Kush and pic 7 and 10 are Reserva Privada's Headband. Dinafem's Critical+ can be seen in the background. They are all the same age. The vanilla kush is the thickest for sure. The Headband is a 10week strain so its only half done. The Vanilla Kush is a 60-65 day strain per the breeder. If i had a better camera id have better pics but these are as good as i can do. All Im really concerned about right now is the Blue Widow and I appreciate all your help! +rep to good advice and keep smokin to medicate!:bigjoint:

Cloudy trichs are the best for peak thc but it looks done to me pistals are receded and u say u have amber trichs. i would chop that bitch. she could go another week but a mix of cloudy / amber is the best so 25% amber i would chop

Id say one more week just to let it fatten up alittle more. Its already looking amazing you could chop now but that extra week just might be the difference.

often buds mature at different rates. this is dependent on strain. ive flowered through some vanilla kush and i let the lower/ inner buds go a little long until they ripen. pick no bud before its ripe!

what makes it ripe? Ive been told to go off 3 different bases...

1) when trics are amber
or
2) when 75% of the hair is orange
or
3) when most of the leaves have turned yellow

so which is "ripe"?

yellow leaves are just the plant using up the nutes. Not ripeness. I only have heard make sure the trichs are cloudy and at least some degree amber. The more amber the more body high

You would be suprised what the last 2 weeks does for your buds. They will fatten up and really start to stink.

Don't know how long you have been growing or if you have stuck with a particular strain for more than 1 grow but you will really start to learn as you continue to grow. Especially if you continue with the same strain. Judging by the pictures, I would say give it a week at least (2 if they remain healthy). Btw, the first picture is the only one that looks even close to being done to me.

Also, you might find that less is better in terms of feeding nutrients. Going off of manufacturers recommendations will often lead to over-fertilization (this is coming from personal experience...and many others have done the same). I havn't looked at a chart or tested ph for over a year now. Pay attention to the fan leaves. They tell all in terms of health. Live, love, grow ;)

+rep and thanks for the info! Im positive i do not overfeed, but do you think you could overfeed them without seeing any signs of overfeeding?
Would overfeeding decrease potency? im smoking some of that vanilla kush right now, a branch broke 3 days ago so i pulled it off, dried it till this morning and am now smoking it :-D not flushed and not cured, it still taste premo compared to my last grow... it taste just like the plant smells mmmmmmmmmm

They look like they need more time imo. Post another pic in a week.
I will most definatly do that. Ill start flushing the Vanilla kush this weekend, and the Blue Widow has already been flushing for 4 days now. These 3 ladies are each in their own 5 gal bucket, so its easy to flush, i just take the top off and drop it in a new 5gal bucket with 007ppm water. after the second day the "dirty" water was already down to 060ppm. the third day it stayed around the same 060ppm, but thats just a good example of how the nutrients must be leeched out of the plant over time, it doesnt just happen over night... this method works wonderful!

All 3.

just trying to help so don't take this personally..
to all the noob growers.. take it from me, the best thing for you guys to do.. is READ all the material you can about cannabis. You can get by with growing.. with only knowing the basics of it.. but I highly recommend researching and learning about cannabis on a cellular level. Read about the different parts of the plant.. and what their purpose is.. Read about how to germinate; plant; veg; flowering the plant; harvesting the plant; drying the plant out correctly; and lastly, curing the plant for that perfect taste/smell/potency.

If you can't do these steps correctly.. well, then your wasting your time. ;)

peace.

It is usually pretty obvious. The leaves will tell you. It might be in the form of discoloration, or it could be as subtle as the edge of the fan leaves curling up or twisting.

Overfeeding could definately decrease potency as it stresses the plant. When your girls get stressed, their developement slows and sometimes even stops completely. If you are normally on an 8 week flowering schedule and you stress them out (overfeed, underfeed, etc), developement is postponed and you will have to flower for longer to hit full potential. I hope that makes sense.

you need 2 to 3 weeks not just 1 for the best end product and yield, for trichs you look for OPAQUE Amber/White/PINK - got for as little translucent/transparent as possible with nice round heads, here is a good scientific article on cannabis maturation: http://www.kindgreenbuds.com/marijuana-grow-guide/cannabis_maturation_harvesting.html

you could however harvest it right now or in one week and it would not be a disappointment or anything but it is ideal you give that 2 to 3 weeks.
