Is it to much light?

If my grow tent is 36Lx20Wx62H is 400 watt hps to much and what do you guys recommend? Thanks

Nope. Not for flower. You may want to start with a fluorescent and then work up to the HID. I would recommend investing in a little cheap gauge to monitor the temp and humidity at your canopy. I hang one from the lights. I bought another one to put at the base of the plants, just for my knowledge. I get them at wallmart for like 8-10 bucks. Cant go wrong with that type of investment.
