Is my setup good or bad?

im new to growing and ill be growing in my closet. its an 8 by 5 with a ceiling height of 7 feet. im going to use miracle grow organic soil and a 150 watt HPS light. the walls are white so i wont worry about reflection.

what above said, and i wouldent suggest miricle grow, i would go with a 75/25 potting soil perlite mix.
MG has nuts in it that are released when wattered and have a tendency to kill/ nute burn the baby seedlings.

Edit: remeber you need at least 7,000 lumens per square foot so your hps has to be putting out about 45,000 lumens

i agree i wouldnt give my worst enemy that fucking miracle grow shit, its nothing but bad luck from day 1 !!!
and what sort of fans will u be using

skip the MG... Get a 4 or 600w. You never mentioned how many plants... make sure you consider ventilation & circulation, very critical.

If your using all that space filled with mj plants then i would say your going to need a bigger light. If oyur only using like half of that then i would say you should be ight

No MG. Bigger light. From the sounds you may be on a budget and if your bound to your closet HID wont do unless WELL vented. Give us MUCH MORE ifno. Budget, Restrictions, Security, Skill, Etc.

dude bigger light...what vents fans etc you using how many palnts? need more detail of what your setup is.

The MG **ORGANIC** potting soil isn't too bad. I've grown a crop in that mixed with perlite and had great results. Only prob is it is a little buggy. I noticed a lot of fungus gnats.. If I were you I'd mix some of that Dimi blah blah earth with it, or get some neem oil right off the bat. But other than that it's an OK soil. There's better out there, but it will work. I've grown some danky danky buds in that shit!!

First and foremost just get a bigger light.. Once you have that, you're ready to go.

Agreed. MG Organic isn't too bad other than the gnats. There are no time release nutes in MG organic. I have used it in the past mixed with 3 parts MG to 1 part perlite and 1TB per gallon of bone meal and blood meal. I would add some peat moss or coco to aid in water retention though.

If you want to use a 150 then build a small cabinet to put in your closet no larger than 20 x 20.

im planning on growing about 4 plants. im in a good suburban neighborhood so im not worried about security. illl be using a small desk fan for ventilation. as for getting rid of the smell, i have incense. and yes i am on a budget. i wont fuck with the miracle grow.

More lights good soil and saty away fro HID go T5/CFL. LOOK FOR GOOD OUTDOOR DUDE !!! Ur in a sweet spot just clone and put in box travel to spot ????

Dude, I'm doing great with Fox Farm ocean Forest soil and the foxfarm nutes. I'm week 5 into flowering and haven't had any mold or bug problems !
