Think about it... Don't rush yourself... If you do, you will run into major problems..

Think about the SOG method.

If you don't wanna use Big lights, Big setup, just some cfls and some experience. Look into autoflowers

Or just keep It simple, take one plant Veg for a month or two, flower>harvest>start over.
This is what I'm looking into doing.... https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/565050-g13-labs-pineapple-express-400w.html

Whatever you decide. Let me know. I'll be happy to help... But something like this kind of hobby.. Takes a LOOONG time to find what you wanna do from here on out

I can't see using the massive pull of juice for a 400 MH for vegging or cloning purposes. CFLs will work,or 2 foot fluoro strip lights and a large tote like a Sterilite 45 gallon tote could grow up to 16" tall clones with the lid on, those totes are 21" tall and that would give space for the CFLs or 2 foot fluoro strips mounted under the lid, and then run a small carbon filter standing vertical on one side of the 45 gallon tote and cut a small passive vent screen on the side of the tote that does not have the vertically standing carbon filter. It will pull fresh air thru your clones and take care of the smell at the same time. Then you can take clones from clones from clones and always have a dedicated grow space for clones and use your 400 MH for budding.

(I was off ) - I overlooked the size of the containers about the height. If you were growing in 6" tall containers, you could have 10" clones in the example of using a single 45 gallon Sterilite tote, but if you had 2 - 45 gallon totes, you could flip one upside down , tape it on top of the tote you have plants in , and easily grow 18" tall clones and I mean 18" from the surface of the soil using 1 gallon pots. This would be the better option if you wanted bigger size clone before moving them under the 400 MH.

I have a 400w MH set up right now and my exhaust/intake. Been looking at a grow tent and new ballast. Currently at the 5th node of my grow... I did rush myself a bit and I did have major problems, but I've learned and read a lot and I've improved a ton. Looking to learn and advance as well as I can.

Clones dont smell you dont need a carbon filter..
