Is there anyone from the SOUTHERN U.S., who wants a medical mj bill?

I'm just trying to see if there's a noticable populus of Southerners on RIU... I've put up a few activism-driven threads, with little to no response, yet I see Michigan has a strong following, and some other States on the Eastern seaboard, but NOONE from the South is speaking up here! Where r my people at?

I'm 60 years old if I live another 60 years in Georgia you will still go to jail for mj. Lost cause in this state.

Much of the area where I live folks hate the Constitution. They dont know it but they do hate it, especially certain parts. Right to assembly- they arrest people for that whenever they can here. Representation of by and for the people- which people? Crooked southern gangster lawyers and politicians run the south round here. .Mmj- dont see it happening . Sorry

TN and KY, and a few other states in the South have medical bills still active right now... MS's S.B. 2252 was just killed, but I think things still look hopeful... At least we aren't giving up...

MS should be the first to go if any, if nothing else, because in Oxford, MS, the Feds grow G-13 for the remaining 4 people on THEIR list of medical mj patients, and none of them even live in MS, so then WHY shouldn't Mississippians have the same choice for a safer alternative, rather than the dangerous and highly addictive opiates that r the only choices currently available... That's one of Ms's biggest standpoints on this issue.

The entire country needs bills! TX incl! But, why isn't more being done in the South, while MI, and RI, and Maine, and Massachussetts, and D.C., and New Jersey, etc being given such better treatment in cannabhis legislation?

Why, yes I do! TN got their lottery. They also have a medical bill that has made it to Senate for the first time this year. I believe the tides r turning... We have to keep believing and trying every angle possible, not losing faith and hope!
Hell we can't even get the lottery in my state, you really expect us to have medical MJ?

All's I know to do is to find State Senators in the South, like Deborah Dawkins(D), of Pass Christian, Steve Cohen(R) TN, Rand Paul (KY), and etc, and send them e-mails, letters, and phone calls to ask them to get these bills passed to the best of their abilities... I guess that's about all we really can do, other than supporting anti-prohibition organizations like MPP, NORML, SSDP, etc, as well as being part of our local scenes, like coming up on 4-20, there will be a local Memphis activist who is going to go to the Shelby County Courthouse @ 201 Poplar and smoke on the steps, and get arressted in the name of the movement... Im just going to watch and support him, and BOO the pigs when they come out, as they do every 4-20 in Memphis, and then Imo go to Overton Park just East of there, to support the rally and gathering that happens there every year, all the while staying plugged into the movement locally, and trying to get out there and back these folks up, and do what I can to add to our numbers... I guess that's about all that anyone can do anywhere there isn't already a medical bill enacted and in place... And write in Ron Paul for the Rep nominee in November! He will help to stop Federal raids, and also dismantle the DEA, like Kennedy would've done, at least to the point where they will leave us non-violent, easy-going, tax-paying, honest, hard-working AMERICANS ALONE!

Alabama has a bill somewhere in the process, but I won't be holding my breath. Should they ever pass it, guess I'll have to stick my balls in the microwave!

I am a Mississippian and I had sent countless personal emails to the all our Senators asking for support of SB 2252. Lots of those emails fell on deaf ears, but I did get replys from Judiciary A committee members after the bill was shot down. These senators are pointing the finger at the Committee Chairman, one Briggs Hopson(R) first term senator from Vicksburg. He is responsible for killing SB 2252. I did fire off a scathing email to Hopson reminding him that he will pay a price for his lack of compassion and that he will be dealt with at the Ballot Box. But the senators that wrote me said they intended to keep fighting until we get it signed into law. Sounds to me like a lot of big talk, because not one of them had the guts to co-sponsor the bill for the author Sen. Deborah Dawkins(D) The republicans in MS are due for a good ass whippin come election day. And as far as I know, the AL. bill is still alive. It is disappointing we did not get any help from Norml, they have sent lobbyists to try and twist the arms of politicians. I encourage everybody, especially Mississippians to email Sen. Briggs Hopson at [email protected] and give him a piece of your mind. Thanks to gangagod for being in the fight with us. We will succeed!

Thank you Turbo210! You are in my State, and I appreciate your actions, which are about the same ones I took over S.B. 2252... Make no mistake Deb will be putting in another one for 2013, and I think we will stand a great chance of seeing it passed.. And you are correct: not only does AL have one that is still alive, but TN also has one that has for the first time, made it to Senate, so we'll be seeing shortly if I'll be moving back to Memphis or not! But for now, let's just keep up the good fight, and I couldn't agree with everything you said, any more! Vote Ron Paul 2012! And keep an eye on young Rand in KY... He's on our side, too!

My take on Freshman Senator Briggs Hopson: How does a rookie senator get appointed to head a committee? Hopson is not calling the shots. There is someone standing behind him pulling the strings, he is merely a puppet. He votes and acts according to what his masters tell him to do. These are some Godless individuals who would sit back and watch their own people suffer with horrible diseases. The war on weed is paycheck and job security for a lot of people along with the corporate owned prisons (big bucks) It is going to take a big hammer to break the republican stranglehold here in the home of G13. There is one poor guy comes to mind who is sentenced to 60 years for a large stash of weed. The damn Gov. Haley Barbour turns 4-5 convicted murderers loose on us. This shit is depressing, makes me want to move to a medical state. Any advice, anybody?
