Is there anything else I can do to increase my yield?

OK, you have my attention.

I figure I am running 1150W (draw) in a 4x4 tent. Is that not enough??

So should I swap out my leds by adding another 600w? I think the heat will be too difficult to control? My tops are @ 80F currently (measured using flir) ....

What you think?
This is where it all goes pear shaped.

People keep talking about power draw. That is irrelevant. It's the light produced that matters, not the power you're using. Now, sure, it takes one to make the other, but how efficient and effective is the lighting itself?

The Mars Hydro 300 is NOT a 300 watt light. In fact, it's closer to 130 watts. So in the end, your draw is actually closer to 520 watts max with all 4 going.

You are trying to EFFECTIVELY light a 16 square foot area with lighting that is only rated to light 9 square feet MAXIMUM ALL 4 COMBINED.

A single 600 watt HPS WILL light all 16 square feet EFFECTIVELY. Your 4 lights combined simply does not.

I see what you are saying, however I dont think you understand the reason why I am using the 4x LED lights.

The 600W HPS is my main light, a 600W grows very nicely in a 4x4 tent.

The LEDS are shining on two buds each - Buds on the sides of the tent that are not getting enough light.

My LED lights are purely side lights, and are more directional lights, compared to the 600W HPS.

Does this new information change your view atall?

If you have the 600 hps going, you don't need anything else. In fact, you would have to set the Mars Hydros so low and so close to the plants that they'd probably wind up blocking more light than they give or very close to it.

Each one of those is only rated for 2.25 square feet for flowering. The light itself takes up 2 square feet of space total. In other words, you're blocking 8 square feet of light so you can put out 9 square feet of light, but in so doing you're blocking 8 square feet of the hps light while you're doing it.

(This of course if you actually have the lights low enough to be effective. If you have them at the same height as the HPS to keep them out of the way, you're getting absolutely nothing out of them, so again you're wasting your money.)

There's really no reason on earth to have anything in a 4 x 4 tent than the 600 hps. If you're not getting enough light from it, then something is wrong with it.

taco's right you probably only need that 600 in that tent, ~1200w in a 4x4 is a lot, penetration isn't as good with leds as hps but i think with every grow the plant should be trained into a net of at least some LST to keep the canopy level and the buds at the same height this way every bud site is getting a lot of light and not one or two of the highest ones, i think regardless of light preference every pant should be trained but if you are not going to train your plant stick with hps, the difference between the 2 lights isn't as big with a level canopy.

so to answer your thread question - scrog net/LST will increase your yield.

Can I veg with the leds??

i'd take those mars lights and hang them vertically around the tent, use them to under light the canopy, think you'd get better use out of them doing that than hanging them overhead
+1 Good idea.

I bought a Mars like a dope. A 600 watt. It is not bad in veg. I mixed it with 2 bulb T8s in veg and they work well together. A cheap 2 bulb t8 on each side and the Mars in the middle. It does a good job.

Those Burples in veg can make plants bushy with lots of nodes but they do not grow that much taller. It is weird.

The pistols look much better than have seen with stand alone hps, maybe it's just a unique good looking strain otherwise. Shame about the feeding issues ;[.

So here she is @ ~ 11 weeks...

How much longer till she is ready??

her buds look like they are foxtailing? Im not sure if its because they foxtailing from heat or thats the strain? I think its the strain as even the buds at the bottom are growing like this.,..

My temps have been pretty high, 85F.

Otherwise she is looking good, however all her branches are falling down due to the weight!!

Hey peeps,

I am currently growing a pure sativa strain, Dr grinspoon from barneys farm.

It is a very long flowering strain, 16-20 weeks so I want to make sure I am doing everything as correctly as possible.

She is in week 5 flower.
In coco.
Feeding GH Micro and GH bloom @ 10ml/20ml per 10 litres of water.
I am adding 0.4 ec of calmag.
Total EC 1.6.
pH: 6
Temps : 85F/70F
Lighting : 1x 600w air cooled hps
4x 300w Mars hydros.
500ppm co2
1.2x1.2 grow tent.
100,000 lux top buds. 30,000 lower buds.

Thanks for any help. I feel I could improve the yield by pruning the plant a bit (I haven't pruned her atall)....

Thanks guys

Looks awesome! I was close in my prediction of 5-6 weeks. Look to need another week or so. Either way it looks like a fatty! Good job!

Have not chopped yet. Will chop in 10 days +-.

I have swapped out my hps for my MH go give it a bit of UV.

I'll then switch lights off for 72 hours. Then lights on for 72 hours, then chop.
