Is there really a need for a these expensive timers in aeroponics?

I am just wondering if there is any method to the madness of a $60-$100 timers for aeroponic systems? I use a cheap $5 brinks light timer from wal mart.... 15min on 15min off....at day 16 from seed my tallest is 10" and my baby is 7" (two different strains) Is there really a need to have precise times like 1 on, 5 off? Does the plant really benefit from that? In true aeroponics the nutrient solution is sprayed over the plants constantly (aerogardens and such). Any opinions?

I find that with the timers my clones root faster than with 24/7 on times. I've read that this lack of constant
spray encourages the plants to grow more robust roots as they're constantly searching for the water source
since they're not constantly getting it. Now this applies to 15/15 as well, I've run those too with great results
but I think that the 1on4off method does a great job at keeping things optimal. This doesn't mean you need to
spend 60-100 bucks either, I got mine off of ebay for 25 bucks which I felt was well worth it.

Simply put though, no, there is no need for them.

You don`t need a precision cycle timer for LP aero (aerogardens and such) but for true aero they are an essential piece of kit.

Hey props for the link ... I am doing a 15 on 1:45 off ..running a vortex sprayer.. I do want to campare it with a 1 on 4 off. I am digging the 15 on 1:45 off, I am 2 weeks into flower and my buds look way better than my old recirculacting DWC
