Is this a problem??????

Ok so i have this plant which i germinated using the paper towel method and i potted it 10 days ago. Earlier today i went to check up on it and it still hadnt come up through the soil. This being my first grow i am very inexperienced and i decided to just gently move some of the top soil away to see if it had sprouted anything and i think i may have accidentally knocked the top of the sprout off.
Is this a huge problem how long will it take to repair and is it normal for a plant to not break through the soil until this amount of time?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Boy o boy. I remember my first grow. Also impatient and also worried like hell.

Yes, it can be normal for a plant to sprout in over 10 days or even 2 weeks. This is a long time, but it's still normal. You should always put your seed 1/2 inch or 1cm deep into the ground and cover and never ever ever press the soil because this will drastically slow down sprouting and the formation of a root system.

If you have actually detached the seed from the hypocondil (small initial root), well, I'd wait another 3-4 days, to be sure, but I say, she's a goner.

Don't be hard on yourself, all beginning growers do mistakes, it's the best way of learning. The good thing is, cannabis recovers faster and better than any other being on this earth. Still in your case, I'm a tad doubtful.

You see, the seed has only enough energy stocked away to produce the cotyledons (first two leaves) and the small tap root. I doubt it has the energy required to heal a wound of this magnitude.

Still... rule #1 in growing weed... be patient. You'll definitely know in 3-4 days.

Dont just put the seeds in the paper towel for a day and then into soil or rockwool, wait for the seed to crack open and let the root come out then very carefully put it into your grow median (rockwool, soil). Try to purchase a growth hormone (clonex, din n grow) it will help the surface of the seeds so soften making it easier and faster germination. from then it should take about a week for a strong sproutling.
