Is this green fungus on my soil good or bad

I recently found out I had been watering too often but I think its the reason I have green fungus in the first cm of my potting soil. Question is what is it and is it harmful?? Thanx in advance

Whats your humidity %? Humidity might be too high..Take everything I say with a grain (or two) of salt, i'm a noob..But I feel like I recall high humidity can cause fungi.

I dont think so but I do know that humidity will cause mushrooms to sprout but my humidity meter is showing at 50% normal side/ maybe just too much water.. Idk

What are you growing? Is it kinda slimy? Does it smell?

I've never heard of too much watering causing mold on soil..If it does i'm glad I viewed this..Learn something new everyday. Don't worry bro, a pro will come along soon and give you some legit advice.

Mine did it too. Its from over watering.

My soil is just organic plus dirt very little peatmoss and clean sand but ya the stuff is slimy and I dont think its mold matter of fact I KNOW its not its some kind of moss like stuff

new to this but yeah, over water could produce mold, especially in your dark/cold cycles? (If you're doing 24/0 though I have no idea haha)

Its probably algae...too much water with lights will get you algae all day...look up algae on soil if it looks anything like any of the pics already up, it would be best to get rid of it seeing as algae can eventually suffocate your plant

You could cover the soil around your plant with cardboard or plastic so that it doesnt get light .. it will make the green go away . Its most likely caused by the light on the damp soil like an algae

Thats not what I have though. Atleast not to that extent maybe.

To get rid of it either A. you can take nutes away B. Stop watering C. as stated above no light or D. you can treat the algae with 3% hydrogen peroxide...a 1/2 cup of peroxide per gallon of water

If its even slightly green its what you have too bigbull...use the advice i gave him and treat it asap or it will kill your plants

peroxide will kill all your beneficial microbes too so i would try to just cover the dirt and monitor, scrape off whats there first. or maybe just spray the top with a peroxide solution after feeding and it might stay up top. if your not using microbes then no worry's just water with the peroxide
