i know this has been asked somewhere else probally but ive spent the last hour looking so i gave up and decided to make a new thread.
can i hook up a car lighter plug into a standard outlet by chopping off the ends of it and like a cell phone charger and just hook up the wires inside each?

That depends on the appliance it is being used for. You need to make sure the voltage and amperage of the cell phone charger match that of the appliance you are going to be using it to power.

go to the source or any electronic store and find any DC charger that has the right ratings on it for your fan or whatever you are hooking up and there you go
