I've Got a Door Idea

so im watching modern marvels about doors. it got me thinking, why dont we ever use a door design in houses where the door slides up into the attic, or the next story? sort of like the back door on a uhaul truck. for a two story home, maybe the home could be designed to where the doors on the first story are directly underneath the walls of the second story. the door would just slide up into the wall above. this would create more space, plus they would be sweet. it wouldnt work in all homes, just the ones designed for it

It would sweet, but think about navigating that place night. Either your doors are all the way open, all the way closed. It wouldnt be made for a lazy person.

thats true. u couldnt have the door open just a bit for airflow or whatever. well maybe the bottom could be open. animals could still get through too

Dude just put an opener on it like a garage door.
genius. id like to have it run on compressed air so it makes that cool sound like on star trek

Look up pocket doors, there's some pretty cool designs.
those r pretty cool. actually i have one in my house that we never use. it seperates the kitchen from the living room. idk y the fuck its there

Because gravity is not your friend.

These doors would be inconvenient for any child, elderly person, pregnant woman, or lazy stoner.

Not to mention they could come down and decapitate your cat.

The hardware would also be more expensive than the typical hinged door.

Also they wouldn't really necessarily create more space, if they went up into the walls or attic they may just interfere with the structural integrity of the building and weaken it.
