Hey there Medshed,
Everything is looking awesome in that day 26 update! Exciting to see things unfold. I just wanted to comment on the high differences between Jilly and Pandy, at least for me. I actually have smoked much more Jilly than Pandora but that is getting ready to change. What I can say from experience however, is that while they do have a similar upbeat, anti-depressant high....Jilly does not kill pain in my sciatic nerve like the JC crosses do. That is why I'm growing Pandora as I need something that can kill intense pain quickly. If I happen to wake up pain-free then something like Jilly would be the icing on the cake to make me feel just great. I have never experienced paranoia on Jilly before, just a uplifting-happy high.
Anyway- just thought I'd add my 2 cents.
Peace!

Jillybean was my Flavor of the month in october, Pandora's box was in november, this month is Purple kush. all of these i would consider medicinal, but the jillybean works on my mood alot better than the rest without putting me to sleep or having me hardwired, also a ceiling on the high compared to pandora or purple kush. pandora's flavor is so limey lemony its addicting, definitely better than the kush.

Hey guys - thanks for the info on the Jillybean. Sounds like I'm going to have to give her a run some day. I need to grow out more of the beans in my backlog before I buy any more. Damn plant count limits! If I wasn't constrained by plant count I'd be growing 5 or 6 strains at a time...

Hola Rollers! The girls are starting to pack on a bit of weight now. Speaking of weight, that JTR is eating like a hog. I now know where Pandora's Box got her appetite. Momma can really shovel it in! :-P The JTR is starting to show signs of fade already. I initially loaded the pot with 2/3 Supersoil. I figured I'd need to feed her once during flower so I brewed up some Earth Juice. Hopefully that will slow the fade. I'll probably give her another feeding in a week or so.

Here's how the ladies are looking as of today...

Medshed-
How is the smell from the Afghan Kush? Everything looks spectacular. JTR looking just like you would expect (gotta love TGA) and the Afghan appears to be quite a resinous one as well huh? You sure do get some great branching and structure Medshed, always an inspiration.
Take care!

Thanks bshdctr. That AK is loading up nicely with resin. I thought the Ketama would be pretty frosty too, since it is supposed to be a hash strain, but it is slow getting started if it is going to frost up. The branching work I have to do because of height limitations. You know, necessity being the mother of invention and all. The JTR would be getting knocked around by the light mover if I didn't tie her down. I don't know if you can tell from the pics, but a side benefit of the bondage is that some of the buds lower down on the bent branches really fatten up when they get a chance to grow up and away from the stem.

Thanks for the reminder on the smell report. I forgot to do that. Since you asked, I'll start with the AK. She's got a real nice berry smell mixed with a light roast coffee. She started out all berry (like blue or black berries) but she's starting to take on a slight coffee smell. The Ketama also has some coffee undertones, but I've decided her main smell is like those Bit-O-Honey candies. Pretty funky combo. And of course, the JTR is crankin' out the lemon fuel. She's developing the fuel side more as she ages, but the lemon is still dominant.

3-4 weeks left on that jtr, looks like its gonna fill out nicely, all of them looks super frosty and healthy, especially the afghan, that's maturing nicely.

I agree omg. I'm shooting for 5% amber or so on the JTR to keep her as much in the head as possible. The Afghan is winning the Cinderella award so far. I had no real expectations of her but REALLY like what I see (and smell) at this point. The Ketama isn't impressing me yet but I'm holding out hope for a nice high profile. I can deal with a lack of visual appeal if she puts my head where it needs to be.

Hey Folks -- quick update for you. I shot some pics this morning and will try to get them posted in the next day or so.

Bobotrank, I don't think you prayed hard enough to the hermie protector gods. The Ketama started up a banana factory when I wasn't looking and I think it pollinated some of the JTR. I don't see any seeds on the AK but would be surprised if there are none since she is just downwind of the Ketama. I can't totally blame the Ketama here. I did know it's a strain that doesn't like much water or food and I gave it too much of both. For extra measure, I let it get too close to the light and sunburned its head. That said, I need simplicity in my life so I don't plan to run Ketama again unless the high is spectacular.I figure any plant that doesn't do well in my growing environment is not for me.

The AK is getting very close to chop time. She's got some amber showing and the pistils have pretty much all turned. The Ketama has another week or so but I may chop it when I chop the AK. The JTR could probably go another week and a half to two weeks.

I hate nanners. Got some seeds in my last harvest...only about 20 tota out of 3/4lb harvestl....and each time I found the seed I saw one little nanner sitting right up next to it. Ahh well, I tend to see nanners at the end of almost all of my grows past Day 65....sucks that cannabis has a natural tendency to survive....but I guess its all in how you look at it:)

btw, looking forward to the picture update!

Oh no! :( Hopefully you neutered the lil bashtard. I prayed against that hermie god-- promise! ;) Here's to some good pr0n.

My last harvest I got some nanners, too. Sweetooth was the strain.. perhaps it was the Blueberry coming through in an unhappy way? Not sure, but the high is still all time. Pluck 'em and smoke 'em says me.

Thanks for the condolences on the nanner incident guys. Live and learn I guess.

Snafu - I agree it sux that cannabis wants to propagate itself like that, but then that is part of what makes it such a cool plant.

I got a little camera happy on this photo shoot. I'm still trying to figure out when/how to use the ring flash on my camera. I don't like how it changes the color of the plant in some situations, but it really helps with the macro shots. The trichome jungle shot I took was using a 10x macro lens - the kind you screw onto the end of your regular lens. I think that is the perfect use of the ring flash.

I'm open to suggestions on how to do a simple light setup that gives more natural light than the ring flash with its LED alien glow. Anyone, anyone? Bobo? Bobo? I'm sure you have all the cool toys so maybe you have some ideas for an amateur on a budget.

Anyhoo - on with the p0rn, but first a smell update. JTR is staying pretty consistent with her lemon fuel smell. I wish I could make an air freshener out of that scent and hang it in my car. :weed: Ketama is starting to shift to the fuel side of the scent palate. I would say it is somewhere in the range of Bit-O-Honey floating in a vat of sandalwood soaked kerosene. The AK is picking up more coffee scent every day. The fruit is still in there but it is starting to share the stage with coffee more evenly.
