Japanese Red Maple (must see)

Japanese Maples are not cheap, especially the red varieties. Even the cheap ones are $30 and up and collector varieties run hundreds of dollars. As far as grafting goes, this is not possible. Only plants in the same genus can be grafted and out of all the people on this forum only a very few will have the skill to make a successful graft. All this talk about grafting MJ is mostly fantasy. Why would anyone want to do this in the first place. If you want four different varieties, plant four different plants.

wheni was in rehab theri was one in the yard of the center that had to be removed cuz it resembled marijauna. it is a very cool plant

my parents have 3 japanese maples at their house, 1 red and 2 green.....expensive trees but very pretty. they do kinda look like weed plants from a distance.

Here's another I planted years ago. Now it's really sweet. Wish I had a new Pic, but it's across the state.

just bought some norway, trident, and japanease maple seeds.. going to set up 20 or so of them and sell them off in a few years.. sounds like a pretty relaxing lil hobby.. and a bit of a return back..

my Uncle down in florida is a bonsai grower, has even been up to DC to help out there. last time he went to a show to sell though he didnt do so well, it was a show down south think in tennesse or something. he has a sweet one been growing for 15yrs looks like a scene from lotr movie or something has like 4 or 5 in the same pot type deal and moss over it.

Medical users who want to remain legal, yet want to grow many strains are the people who would *want* to do that shit.


It's a bitch though, and not very practical (easier doing multiple plants) but eh some people like projects lol

I've started some Japanese maples from seed, and had a few bonsai too. Not only do they take FOREVER to germinate, but they can be difficult to grow until more established. But they're beautiful trees, and I love their colors.

You can buy these at your local home d* or loew*s stores and they really are not too bad in price. Keep in mind they do not like a lot of direct sunshine all day long. I have wanted one for some time now just don't have a good location to plant it without it getting all burned up here where I live.

If it's a sunnier spot they are more green, and more shade they are red. They are really cool.
