Jilly bean Phenos?

How many are there and (I'm very new to this) how do I distinguish between them? I've decided to get some Jilly beans as my first order (2nd grow). I'm hoping to make a mother or 2. What is everyones favorite pheno?

I have heard of the orange pheno and the candystore pheno. I grew the orange pheno for a while. Very smelly, citrus tangerine like smell with a hint of sour earthy tones. (I put my nose in a jar for you.) :)

I've heard there were like 5 phenos. I hear candystore is the best. How can I tell before they flower what pheno they were...

I have one thats gigantic and must have hybrid vigor. It is massive and branchy and was a very, very vigorous grower. I would estimate it grows 3 times the size of its sisters in the same time. It has an orange based perfumy delicious smell and now late in flower i'm noticing a sandalwood type smell that has me very excited to try it. This phenos leaves also turns blood red/burgundy late in flower under normal temps.
The other pheno I have that stands out is a very tangy, dank smelling smell one that is covered in trichomes. The smell reminds me of satsuma oranges, apples and the strain called "Freisland or Freezeland". I am hoping this is the candy store pheno. I'll see if I have some pics.

Everyone bitches about how there is no consistency in the strain but I like that fact about it. I just want one that is a good yielder and a good smoke!

I grow the fuck outta some Jilly Bean. I was able to identify the phenos very early into bud. Bloom them. One will have pointy structure and smell like cherries and orange candy. Thats candy Store. The other pheno will smell like a bag of sweet oranges. Thats prange pheno.
Look in my photo albums here...

I have seperate folders for the orange pheno and the candy pheno. I love the candy pheno on days when I have no motivation or I feel anti social.

Thanks a shit ton man! Nice pictures too! Is there any way to tell during veg? Or am I going to have to put them into flower check for smells and then back to veg? The leaf structure looks pretty much the same from what I can see... What about height? Node spacing? Branching? Thanks in advance for any info and sexy ass pics! +rep

Correct me if I'm wrong but my assumption was for any hybrid there's gonna be three MAIN phenotypes

One that is more like the mom, one that's like the dad, and one that is a mixture

You sure can...it's just the same...but the longer in flower, the longer the plant will grow strangely...it is not a big deal, but the leaves on the new clone was rooted and growing will be oddly misshapen...

Ha. Do clones make decent mothers or should I take all clones from a seed. Don't they call clones of clones sister plants? If I got 5 seeds should I pop all 5 at once? How is the male to female rate?

I think you need to head over to the beginner forum.

Clones will make a fine mama plant. You can only keep a mama around for so long before you'll have to replace her with a fresh cut. I would pop all 5 seeds at once if you have the room. Let them grow out in veg until you have around 6 node sets, then take some clones from those plants (be sure to label which clones came from which seed). Flower your original plants that came from seed, and you will be able to determine sex within a week or two. Then you will toss the males (unless you plan to do some breeding) and allow the females to flower all the way through. Cut them, dry them, cure them, and then give them a smoke test to determine which females clones you will keep moving forward.

Simple as that.

So... take clones, flower mothers, sample, take clones of clones, flower that wash rinse and repeat?
