It would be better to take the hood off and hang it yourself, cause they will out grow the extension

look, the aerogarden is almost to easy, i have done a few different things but , all you really have to do is put your seeds in an empty media or take out the seeds of the other ones and use them, i put my seeds in a media, put the plastic cover on, and in 3 days i think they started to sprout, right now they are about a month in, so far so good, they are getting really big and all i did was plug it in and put some seeds in it, gl, pay attention to lighting cycle, might have to read up on that, GL

so i need to top them in flowering or vegging?

while they are vegging, right before you put them into flowering, when flowered, thy will just about triple in size, so you kinda have to calculate that into your grow space, but topping them keeps em nice, short, and bushy, alot easier to handle when they start to bud

ok so iv come along way since i first posted this thread and its been a while since i last posted. not sure if i mentioned that i had 6 little sprouts in pots in the backyard. well my friend had a idea of placing the already sprouts into the aerogarden. since the sprouts were small (1 week old) they hadnt outgrown the jiffy pot that i had placed in the pots. so i pulled the jiffy pots out and slowly washed it away from the little plant. then i got those dirt sponges that come with the AG and i made a hole down the middle and i place the sprouts tap root down thru the hole and closed the dirt around it. it completly workd. i wish i had taken a photo of wen they were first placed in the AG coz my god they have grown so much. ok so my question is coz i ALWAYS have one lol. the plants have not grown in height or stem width but have grown huge leaves and nearly on their 3rd set. so only the leaves seem to be growing. is this maybe the strain? funny thing the roots are growing fine. theres lots of them and there long. any advice and ideas please?

Yea its prolly the genetics in the strain.Indicas have large fan leaves and grow more bushier,Sativas tend to grow upwards more than outward and have long thin blades, so you gotta topp them more..Bonsai is keeping the tree small and bushy by topping and pruning the roots very often.

you did everything right, should work out fine, now all that there left to do is let them grow, did you read thru the AeroGarden guides?

whats up aussie! first of let me start by sayin, listen to what sicc and purpdaddy tell u cuz they gave me 90% of the knowledge i have know. I am also a newbie and an AG user, i actually had never grown b4 until i decided to throw some seeds in pots and they grew and before i knew it i had fallen in love and had a new hobby. those 2 plants got huge but turned out male (a big problem wen using bag seeds) so i chopped them. but durin that time i got the AG and read as much as i could. I also ordered some white widow seeds (byt the way cannabis is separated into sativa and indica and the strains name has to do with how much sativa/indica the plan is.) witch i germinated right in the AG witch saves the trouble of havin to transplant, and im actually using fox farm nutes and even tho i veged wit the AG light im using a 400w hps to flower so i can get a better yield. but dont get me wrong, it can be done with the regualr light, if i was you id juss get a few 2700k cfls for extra lightinin and to get the right spectrum of light. u may find it to be easier to flower with a 6 to 8 cfls than with the AG light but thats up to you. But pretty much dont listen to the people telin you ur wastin ur time and it cant be done because it can, my white widow girls are like 3ft tall right now and in their 3rd week since they started flowering. Like im sure u read already u only wanna grow 2 or 3 plants inn it because of the space, but for what we need ( personal smoke) it works great!

yeah the light is off at the moment coz it is like 10.30 at nite in aus. 2moro ill take some. its kool coz the little roots are already in the water. its lame wat im about to say but it remends me of an octopus coz they are like floating around and long. ill give u some measurments of them though for now. my smallest plant is 2 cms high (just under 1 inch) and its leaves spread out to be 12cms (nearly 5 inches). and my biggest plant is 3 cms high (just over 1 inch) and the leaves spreadout to be 13cms high (just over 5 inches). and wen i say high i mean that i have measures the stem from the dirt to the end of the stem. i didnt count the leaf on top. just one end of the stem to the other. and wen i say spread out i mean im looking birdseye view. r they goin well by wat iv told yas?

The two side lights are from ikea, and there is a 48w 3000k CFL in each. For those that don't know; it's very hard to get cheap/easy light fittings in Australia due to tighter safety regulations (eg we don't have socket splitters, or sockets that plug directly into a GPO) so light fittings for a CFL are a big issue.

The easiest solution are cheap desk lamps such as used here, but even they are close to $15 each. The better solution is to make your own light fittings with sockets/plugs/wiring brought from a hardware shop. You'll need a solder, drill, frame, sockets etc etc and you'd want to do a lil bit of study on how to wire in sequence etc.

Those plants only stayed in the AG for another 2 weeks, then were trasplanted into a DWC setup, using the AG hood as side lights, and another 48w 3000k globe added to the other two which were moved to be the down lights.

There are 3 plants in the picture, however the middle plants was destroyed. The other 2 plants were both female, had been topped at the 3rd node, and then some LST (note the black thread in the pictue).
