Hey people of Riu...

Yeah, there are many diy cob builders here, but sometimes it's not possible to build your own!

I suffer with mental illness and have never wired a plug even. I struggle to learn things, so in my situation it is better for me to pay extra for cobs.

So I grew more weed last grow, then invested in pre made cobs.

Just posting to assure others there are other complete idiots on this planet that will do this... lmao You ain't alone

Nothing wrong with having them made. Which lights did you choose?
PHEW... Got off lightly in the 1st post...

Thanks for going easy on me @nevergoodenuf lol I was afraid the 1st reply would be a picture of a smiley face smacking it's own forehead!

I chose two of these, which have 9 cobs each

http://www.budmaster.co.uk/budmaster-ii-uk-cob-x-9-led-grow-light.html

And also two of these...

http://www.budmaster.co.uk/budmaster-ii-uk-cob-x-6-led-grow-light.html

Recently growing has become a bit much for me. Growing in area that are too big, with too much light and heat! MY electric bill has £840 in the last 2 months.

I have decided it's time to make it all simple again.

Autoflowers planned for these. 4 small tents, 3ft x 3ft tents. 4 plants in 6 litre pots in each. They spend 30 days under 300w of cob, then go to 450w of cob.

I'll get approx. 10 ounces every 2 weeks. Be able to easily reach my plants daily to check if the soil is dry.

Next over to less heat and quiet extraction... man with complex ptsd when you cannot switch off, the fans can really fuck with you! It will all be silent, low heat and stress free.

By going to these cobs and removing my old lights, I have gone from over 3000w to 1500w so very pleased there. I already know my bill will be about half. So that means the leds will still pay for themselves. It's a move I've taken a ages deciding on. Lots of studying. I believe I'm buying some of the best options there are available for my style of growing.

The Hyperfans come with a dimmer and a silenced version. I use 2 8" hyperfans, the one on the filter is set to high (75w) and the intake is turned down until I get a little negative air pressure ( 25w). Though not the cheapest.
hyperfans are the best, i use 2 6 inch hyperfans , compared to my old active air fans they are basically silent.

This ade me lol! Atb with this
which extraction fans you going for dude? i like quiet...real quiet!
I quite like those little tt5'' fans, they'll be perfect for the cobx-6's. Then 6'' rvk for the cobx9's. Also every so often I can throw a bigger tent up if needs be and still have the extraction I need. If the plants outgrow the area, those ladies need bigger tents. Happened several time over the years where you get a monster plant and put an extra big tent up.

I have fan controllers with thermostats. I'm using clip on fans and nothing else. None of these silly big fans. I'll use those big fans I have already for pulling fresh air towards the intakes from the windows.

I've given a lot of stuff away to friends who grow that are fairly new to it. Old ballasts and stuff. Really going the whole 9 yards on the changing to cob here

50 watts per square foot, damn. That light might be happier in a 4'x4'.
For me I will have to say, I'm an experienced led grower and I'll tell you my reason of my choice of tents.

Part of the reason hid yields more than blurple leds in my time growing is the fact it creates enough heat to keep the soil warm and not cause lockout. The soil also dries faster, so the metabolism of the plants is also quicker!

You have to be very careful with growing led. I know that the 300w cob tents will be running very quietly, but the other tent slightly louder, but it will be nice and warm in there! There is a fine balance of the environment I look for, before I even look at the stats for w per sq/ft. The stats for that are just what they are after I've chosen the right light to create the perfect environment for a specific area.

There's no point having lots of par and cold roots! Trust me, I've been there :eyesmoke:

uk temps are pretty sweet for the indoor grower i reckon :) ive got 1450w in my big tent, 600 of which is a horribly hot hps and im only using a 6" TD silent and two clip fans down low for air circulation.

its all about the root temps - probably my biggest concern during winter

I can't wait until they get here! I don't even need to use them until I move, but will open them and take a few photo's.

I have a drobe which is 1.5ft x 2.5ft. I'm going to get one of those for that, but not yet. I have already gone way over my budget.

Well, it is a big chunk of money but so long as you are happy with the results, that is all that matters.

Sure you could do better and cheaper with DiY but what is your time and frustration worth?

One suggestion, scrap the veg and run straight 12/12 for less headaches. Let the plants grow until they are ready for harvest. 550 PPFD gets you around 25 DLI which is the bottom end of a high light plant's optimal requirements. The plants won't start to flower until they are mature anyhow so you aren't messing anything up but you will save money on your power bill. Go read the 12/12 from seed thread.
