Thanks for all the support people, my baby has grown and matured nicely :)

I think we are very close to harvest time, possibly only a couple of days (which would be exactly 8 weeks flowering)... check out the amber trics in this pic.

I have started flushing, once a day in the morning I run the hose on it for about a minute and let it all drain away. The soil is awesome and drains very fast. Its a nice sunny day today so I have a feeling these trichs are going to get a whole lot more amber really quick so i'll have to take closeups each morning to check optimum picking time....

Woah, top effort, thanks for the heads up bro!

I've got a small greenhouse she can go in when the heavens open up, or another little shed I have with skylight roof that she sleeps in at night time, all locked up safely from the monkeys I have shown her to.

I did a PH test on my tap water, 8.0 !!! That's pretty high eh, but I dont really have a choice now, its not worth hunting down some PH lowering stuff at this stage, she has survived on it this far, I'm sure it will be fine in these final stages.

Yeah you totally can, I heard that a long time ago so thats why I bought the Tomato food, I have a photo of it in this journal, first or second page I think so you can have a look. I think its a brand from NZ so you probably wont find it in any other country, but any tomato food should do. Seems to work well... :) I think the best thing I used was the Yates potting mix, mixed with a bit of Root Blast powder.

Im so FREAKN GUTTED, I harvested on Sunday most of the colas, all looking really good at the time, all nicely manicured by myself. I had been keeping it in my shed that is really warm and usually really dry but last couple of days it has been very wet and this caused a big reaction in the plant and ALOT of budz have been affected with mold and bud rot. I put it all in a big box with string lines, hanging them upside down and in the dark, and this morning I look at them and noticed EVEN MORE BUD ROT and MOLD!!! I can't tell you how annoyed I am, I am bursting at the seams.

I have a fan on it now, trying to keep the air dry and circulating and hopefully stop the mold growth. ITS UGLY AND WRECKING my BEAUTIFUL STICKY BUDZ!!! It goes moldy and the whole inside of the bud turns to gooey MOOSH. I scrapped out as much as I could....

I have left some branches on the plant growing, and just checked on them, MOLD on some of them TOO!! I have put the plant back OUTSIDE to air out....

DISASTER.

I hope it hasn't set in too much and will not be too noticeable in a few weeks when fully dried and had time to cure...

Heres some pics of the manicured product... you can see some of the mold in my closeup. Last photo shows how much of the plant is still growing.

Today I have a Dehumidifier right next to the drying buds to stop the mould process and speed up the drying process. My idea now is to dry for another day or two and then put straight into curing jars. Does the jar have to be REALLY air tight? I have some coffee jars of good size which seem to have a decent seal on them but its only a 'click' on lid, should I also tape around the seal? I will burp it once a day, and will cure in this jar for 2 weeks exactly, then hopefully I'll have some decent smoke.

I think what didn't help in this case was the fact the budz are sooo big and really clumped together, no moisture can escape from the insides and thats where the mould set it, usually buds are not quite so fat and moisture can easily escape, but not in this case... dam big buds! ;)

I think I am now on top of the mould, I chopped off the last of the mould affected buds from the plant, they recovered pretty nicely on the plant as I left it outside all night and all day to air out.

This website gave me a lot of knowledge about GROWING this plant, but even after reading ALOT of curing and drying techniques it wasn't enough to prepare me for the mould problem. I would now stress the importance of circulating air when drying, and also humidity levels in the room you are drying in.

it is better if they are air tight yes. and you should consider burping more than once a day
Enjoy the smoke

OK not too bad, looking pretty dee-licious, no more mould or rot, situation is back in control.

Budz are in clean coffee jars (no coffee scent or flavour added) and beginning to cure slowly... Lucky I just picked up some herbs for the meantime :leaf:

The smell in the jars is still very much like sweet mown grass... I'm pretty sure it is 100% dry, a close inspection today looks all good, no moisture or mould.

A small taste test not long ago was very tasty and quick hitting, that's certainly some good ganja!

The bag'o'buds on the right of the box is not part of my grow, that is my herbal medicine until my home-grown is fully cured and ready to enjoy.
