Just won't die!

So a couple weeks back I sacrificed one of my plants to get a look at the rootball for any signs of pests or rot. I just pulled it up, checked it out and threw it away.

Well I was having a time with my watering so I topped off the now plantless pot with new soil and started to use it as a gauge for my watering routine to know what the dry weight felt like.

Flash forward a week and I have this pot on the work bench and I happen to look over and a plant has sprouted. I am thinking stray seed but not possible because I accounted for the few I had.

Anyway I feed her some Cal/Mag water with a little dyna-grow, stick her in with the 12/12 girls and she starts to take off. So I go down yesterday morning intent on finishing the veg box and to check my garden and the baby has hairs. I could not believe it. It's been only approx seven days and she sexed.

Well I finished the new veg box and put her into it to get her to grow some more. Maybe by the time I harvest my current grow:weed:, the new seedlings and my new baby girl will be ready for the flower box.

Here's some pics.

um how is it that this is the old plant if you threw out the old one and its rootball?
I just pulled the plant by the base of its stem from the pot leaving a hole with some of the roots left behind still in the pot. I just topped her off with some fresh dirt to use for a watering guide and this is what happened.

I don't know if it's even possible? All I know is that I have a plant about 7 days old or so and she is sporting hairs. I can't say 110% that it was not a stray seed but I believe that I have accounted for all of my them.

Man,this even sounds fishy to me and I wrote it.

either you had a rouge seed end up in the pot or this is the first case of immaculate conception to occur in the plant world. and as far as i understand it is immpossible for a rootball to resprout.

Hey nick

I won't call it an emmaculate conception but I looked it up and it is possible to clone from the rootball. Its called root cutting and its done by cutting two inch sections, then covere them in rooting gel and plant in soil. Might be something worth trying when I harvest my girls I have in flower.

Like I said eirlier, I am not 110% sure but I am 99.99% sure its not a rouge seed. You and I know, stranger things have happened.

Thanks svchop for the info, I searched it on msn and it says it is possible. I learn something new everday about these plants.

yup I never could believe it either still have a hard time believing it but it happens so its possible. its also possible to have tri and quadfoil where you have 3 or four fan leaves per node instead of the typical 2. then there are polyploids where you get two sprouts from one seed. I have even seen male plants grow pistils out of there tops just a few the rest was male. marijuana can do some incredible things.

I discover everyday that it is a plant that has an incredible ability to survive the harshest treatment. Almost mystical:lol:

Hey svchop,

Thanks for the info. I have glanced over it and will read a little deeper when I get more time.

I to am a fellow Michigander and although I have not lived their for over 20 years I still call it home. You are very lucky to see that the state recognizes the madicinal properties of this awsome plant.

Thanks again for stopping in!

Keep em green!

welcome to root cloning my friend. it usually takes forever but its completely possible to make clones out of roots that were left behind after a chop.

most people just dont want to take the time to do it this way.
